Dovelights 5 will use the same framework as Dovelights 3, but the similarity will be the game's look. Think of it in terms of Dovelights 2, which is a recapitulation of the first game with new content to distinguish it. Where the third game seems to be all over the place, I'm going to refine those locations. Things will be in a more logical order, and the story will tell the aftermath of Dovelights 4. Furthermore, the Dovelights clean up the remainder of the nightmarish scum that the Sargaso Sisters left.
I can also tell you all that this game will provide a recurring villain: Jakomar. Yes, he's back with the Foodarions! To put this in context, let's do a comparison with the gimmicks in Sonic the Hedgehog. Badniks (robots) are to Sonic as Foodarions are to the Dovelights. Golden rings are to Sonic as prayers are to the Dovelights. Ironically, I never would have imagined collectable items as "rings with wings"! Chaos gems are to Sonic as the Trel Force orbs are to the Dovelights. The difference here is that the orbs simply connect the island provinces of Trelland.
Okay, let's get back to the game. In my first report, I said the game would have 115 levels. After I worked on it a bit, I decided to include an extra mode. In the extra mode, I introduce clues to collect. Instead of playing the same game, the player is playing the last part of a story. When you get to Jakomar, the player will see how it all comes together. Now that I think about it, I'm glad I made Dovelights 3 so long! I could simply choose levels that would work the best.
I hope I have clarified a few things, and my goal is to give you another peculiar game with a more conservative approach. As the series departs from the nightmarish saga, I want to give it a more contemporary feeling. So, as it stands, Game Maker can't push the limit anymore. I can't promise a sixth installment until I can come up with an innovation. The only way to do such a thing is to ask proponents of the series what they want to see in that game. Let's wait until the release of Dovelights 5, and we'll go from there.
