Greetings Pilots! We have another month behind us so it’s time for another update. This one being a bit more special as I have teamed up with a fella going by the internet moniker Shephard and can proudly declare that Astrov now has its first two official soundtracks (one being for exploration, another for combat) available, built in and ready to go!
In addition, a good portion of the HUD is interactive now; meaning that, whenever you’re in mouse mode and depending on the context, you can select certain ingame objects by pressing the relevant text area or buttons that appear during gameplay. It can be especially useful for selecting POI destinations that are marked with a waypoint that you have to visit.
And finally, the world is starting to slowly have more and more things to see and visit - in this particular case you can see fleets of capital ships wander the Network. Keep in mind that shooting them might not be the best option as they tend to be heavily armed and escorted.
As always, here’s the changelog:
28.04.2018 - Prototype ver. 0.1.4:
Additions:
New UI interactions - squad menu, objectives panel, weapon selection can be clicked
During “Go to” objectives, POI icons change focus for easier navigation
Background soundtrack now available - two tracks added, music volume slider added
Fleets originally from capital hunt missions can also now appear outside of such scenarios
Fixes/Corrections:
Fixed ships not being listed in buy menu when starting new game
Fixed frigate collision models
That’s it for now, I am currently reworking a large chunk of code to simplify the implementation of several mechanics I intend to roll out in due time, so currently updates will be more about bugfixes than added features.
Thanks, and have fun!
