AUGUST DEVLOG!


Hello everybody, it's me, Semi!

And I welcome you all to the long promised Devlog…

I am sorry for the failed we had and all the struggles we went through just to get to this, but here we are!

So, what are the topics?

There are a lot of topics I want to talk about, especially about our new team, the games progress (honestly in every category) and also I want to tell you all about our new plans and what Trusttale is. I really struggled, but after I saw all of the demotivation I gave for not telling much I have decided to open up a bit more!

I will also show ya´ll the first area of the FULL GAME!

1. Trusttale Team!

Mr. Peter is now the Co-leader and Co-owner of Trusttale and helps us A LOT. Thanks to him, our team grew to double its size!

What does our team look like?

2. Trusttale: Sans´Fight!

We made A LOT of progress this time, more than we ever made this far. The Sprites were changed up a bit and the animations are not looking better than before!

Now, we finally started with something we wanted to do for A LONG TIME… and that's coding!

It took me AGES to get to coding because of irl struggles and a bad laptop, which couldn't even open GameMakerStudios:2.

But hey, I started to code and I already did a lot.

We will also use the new Trusttale LV system which I am implementing right now (WIP). The system isn't really done yet, but the system changes the gameplay a lot (especially in the full game). You will be able to reach up to LV 100! (wow what the fuck???) and level-ups are much easier to get, so it will feel a lot more satisfying to kill level-up and won't make it so boring. You will get less HP than before, but in the long run you´ll have more anyways. It will also change your other STATs too.

And do not worry, this wasn't the only thing that got made, obviously there is more. A LOT more.

I also made the Last Corridor (almost functionable except that there's a bug with the camera). This is how its gonna look like btw:

I also added some bullets as preparation for the fight itself. ITEMs and ARMORs got edited, same as some bullet patterns. As you may know, I am still learning how to use GameMaker, but I still make great progress so far.

Oh and I edited all sprites, which was kinda hard because GameMaker liked to troll me-

Anyways, despite coding, Mr. Peter changed the dialogue and I edited a bit as well…meaning that the dialogues are not so weird and dumb lmao.

I may send some gameplay in the future, but for now it's just work in progress and not that much to show off.

3. TRUSTTALE: The Game

This is gonna be a LONG part of this Devlog. We really made A HECK TON of progress in the last months, which I never expected. The script is basically 100% done and the Themes? The themes are also nearly done (85%).

Anyways… Semi, what is the first area of the game?

Well… be prepared, here it is!

THE CAVE

The Cave will be the first area of the full game. It is more like a tutorial area to let you get into the game a bit more. There will be 3 different monsters you can encounter as “wild enemy”. Those are: Grung, Omnibat and Smallni (he also has a bigger form: Mederni).

So…let me introduce y'all to the new monsters!

First we have Grung, a rock-penguin, who gets aggressive very quickly. He is probably the tankiest encounter you will get in random encounters, but does little damage.

Second we have Omnibat, a one-eyed bat. He is more of a “glass cannon” meaning he deals higher damage, but is really fragile. He can't understand you and can't talk either, but through telekinesis you can still show your mercy and make him spare you!

And lastly…we have Smallni! It is a strange yellow blob and is the weakest enemy of the three. His speciality is his second form, Mederni. Mederni might appear in the wild as well and if you try to kill it, it will split into two Smallnis. Mederni is the hardest wild encounter you can have in the Cave. Of course, he isnt that hard to beat in the pacifist way, but it can indeed be annoying for the genocide way.

The Smallnis kinda appear a lot throughout the entire Cave…maybe you will have a answer for that on one time?

The cave also brings you a brand new guest…

May I introduce you to…Azul!

Azul will be your teacher and supporter through the Caves! He will help you with tutorials (optional), showing you the way, upgrade your tools and more!

He lost his entire family since the war and is now on his own…

Azul needs YOUR help to find his family and make him more happy. Can you help him unite with his family again?

Or will you make his life even worse…?

It's all up to you!

The full game isn't a priority yet. We are making the Sans fight first to give you all a first impression on the game. The full game will have different mechanics and a different style in general, it won't be like the sans fight demo.

4. Story time!

Indeed, we changed a lot and with that our story as well!

There will be three higher beings (as mentioned in the past) and they will only be encounterable in their own routes. You can not fight them all in just one route, that is not possible. There will also be different endings for the demon…

The further you get into the game, the different the gameplay gets. Even if everything seems normal at first, you might notice some strange figures or people with strange behaviors. We put a lot of secrets and details…perhaps even in the Sans demo? Who knows!

You will have to find out for yourself!

We will not tell much about what we planned for the gameplay, but what I can tell you is, it will be more RPG like and a mix of Undertale and Deltarune. A lot of backtracking, mini games, puzzles and strategizing will be involved!

You can not just take the newest armor like you used to do, more you will have to fit them to the current area, enemy, boss etc.

There will also be certain optional enemies you might wanna fight later, except you feel like you have enough skill to beat them with your current armors!

5. End of Devlog and a few final words!

This is the end of the big August Devlog you all waited for so long! I am very sorry for all the wait and little information I always gave. I made a lot of mistakes, especially because I am too scared to spoil too much, but honestly everyone will just get uninterested or demotivated. This happened for a lot of people and I highly apologize for everything.

We will post our progress more often into our GameJolt and also more into our Discord Server!

We are really working hard and try our best to give you all a new feeling and a new adventure!
