Hello 2018.
2017 was an interesting year for BBG dev. Let me just get right into it.
I re-wrote everything. Spent the past 2 months doing that.
Why?
In short, lack of organisation. The game didn’t adapt very well every time I added new functionality. Adding little features here and there took too long. And the Cog Shop (I’m a natural when it comes to naming things) suffered most from the disorganization. So I re-wrote it. Now, we have this shop.

What else has changed you ask?
The HUD has gotten an update. I felt like it was getting a little messy. There is Swapping weapons is a little different. The levels intro is a little different. Even weapon (and some perk) swapping is different.

I also introduced gears. These are a second type of pick up you get from destroyed enemies. Initially I wanted to use cogs as the only means to make purchases in the game, but I later found out that it was all getting a little too complicated to keep track of.
So I made cogs exclusively for unlocking shop items. While gears where from purchases you made during a run.
Not only that, but we now have an in-game upgrades menu. I figured that this would be a good thing :)

I even updated dying…

But not everything has completely changed. For the most part, things just got polished in small ways. Including the boss difficulty (harder now).

hahahaahahahha…. good times.
Anyway, I’m also excited about something. Ever since I cleaned up my code, I realized that I had more space to fool around. I don’t plan on doing so before I finish the entire game… but I have been messing around with some ideas.
