Hey Joltees! It’s been a while since the last update, and we figured we should keep you in the loop. The game is set to launch in mid-late February, so although the demo is a little outdated there’s new stuff you can get excited for when the full game launches. First of all, happy holidays from the Clever Endeavour team!
New Website & Store
We completely redid our website and our store is now live and fully stocked. The new website is hosted by SquareSpace, meaning that they take care of hosting all of the files, and they also handle all the commerce stuff. That’s a tricky thing to set up (security, money processing, etc. etc.) so we pay them a small monthly fee and they handle all of that.
We got our new shipment of T-shirts so now we don’t have to worry about having limited stock! (For now…)
The other advantage is that when we get a ton of people on the site (hopefully) when the game launches, we won’t have issues with bandwidth because SquareSpace claims we have it unlimited.
Iceberg Level
We wanted to introduce our most recent addition to the levels of Ultimate Chicken Horse. If you’ve been wondering why there haven’t been a ton of new levels, it’s because we’ve been working on other stuff and are leaving levels for a bit later (yes I know we don’t have much time…)
Here’s a sneak peek at the Iceberg level, which includes a boat / iceberg moving across the level with the player and falling ice.
We’ve played around in it and like it a lot, but we’ll have to test it more with non-developers to see what the reaction is like :)
New Characters, But Can’t Reveal Them Yet…
Unfortunately all we can give you is the fact that there are two new characters in the game, both designed by Kickstarter backers! We’ll be revealing one of them in January in our big video update, but the other one you’ll have to wait to play the game for! We’ll give you a hint though: it’s little and cute. Kind of like the other characters ;)
Other Game Work
We’ve been plugging away at online multiplayer and are making really good progress. It’s going slower than we predicted (which is quite normal for game development) but we had some breakthroughs in the last couple of weeks and we’ve got the lobby practically networked; that is, two people on separate computers could be in the lobby together, choose characters, vote on levels, etc. Next up will be implementing that in the actual game, but the work we’ve already done will be extremely useful toward making that faster and more efficient.
We’ve also been working on the lobby, and we added the character customization area as you can see in the gif above. Chicken here is putting on a mohawk! The lobby has been undergoing some massive changes, and in the next update (coming in the next few days) our early access backers will be able to see the difference.
Alright, this has become a novel as usual, but stay tuned and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest and the greatest!
