I almost forgot to start writing this lol, just remembered as I was working on the game. Don't want to get too distracted , so I'll make this brief.
What the shit is a Boiboi
In 2022, I released Super Boiboi, this platformer about some love-struck loser, Boiboi, and his best friend, Spike, journeying through a mysterious planet after crash landing there to save Girlgirl after she went missing from the crash site. Now, It's been awhile, and I'm working on the sequel.
What I have so far
I started work on this game about 2 and a half months ago, during August, so still pretty early on I'd say.
I started by following that "Griffpatch Scrolling Platformer" tutorial everyone and their mother has watched at some point to start, since I had no idea how to actually make a scrolling platformer and had been avoiding it for years.
After I was done, I started modifying it to suit my needs, as some of you would know from following the game page. Added walljump, animations, enemies, etc.
I even started writing a plot outline for the game so I could finally put like 2 years of day dreaming on paper. Currently not done but I have like the first half written down.
I actually completed the first level this month. Of course, it's just the collision so everything's still purple, but I'll get to that someday. Last post I showed 3+ lucky people a build of the game, and they all liked it, so that's nice.
What I have to do
Still have a long way to go before the level is truly finished. Level tiles have to be done, level placeholders have to be replaced, bugs have to be squashed, etc. Still need to program a cutscene engine too, which I have been avoiding like crazy because I don't want to lose my mind (yet).
Anyways, that's all I have to say, see you next month with the 2nd devlog. hopefully I have the level done by then (no promises lmao though)
