Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgis no Kaiten" will be starting soon! I'm really looking forward to it!
I have yet to watch the first part, "The New Rebellion," but I have been able to watch most of the TV anime Madomagi when it is available for a limited time on YouTube!
The appeal of Madomagi in my opinion is its "innovative worldview and story"!
First of all, the "graphics and drawing style" of this anime are very original, and I was struck by the "beautiful and dark worldview" that I have not seen in any other anime!
The characters are all cute and drawn with brown line drawings that blend easily with the background! And the magical girls' costumes are attractive and very cute! And the backgrounds are also detailed one by one. While the characters are in the everyday world before their transformation, they are bright, especially the depiction of light such as sunlight is vividly drawn, and the bright world view is characteristic, but once they enter the witches' ward, they are drawn in deep tones and dark tones, etc., which convey a darker world view!
And the story is also fascinating, and I felt that it is "a novel story with many unexpected twists and turns!
When you think of "magical girl anime", you all think of using magical powers to defeat enemies and save the world. And I think it has a strong image for children. Of course, in this anime as well, the story is about magical girls who make a contract with the mysterious life form Kyubey, become magical girls, and fight witches, the enemy, with the power of magic, but in exchange for having their wishes granted by Kyubey in the contract, the magical girls experience despair and hardship while fighting witches, and when their despair reaches its limit, they eventually become witches. The story is full of depressing developments that would be unthinkable in a magical girl anime, and it is a story that is likely to cause the viewer heartache. However, I found the intense gap between these stories and the cute illustrations to be original and interesting! And I wonder if these dark stories are one of the anime that turned the public's image of magical girl anime upside down and changed the history of the anime world!
By the way, I drew Bebe, the witch, this time! This adorable character also played a major role in the new part of the story, Rebellion, and was a traumatic character in the TV anime version that left trauma all over Japan! Please check it out!
Although the storyline is depressing to the point of almost traumatizing, this is a fascinating worldview unique to Japanese anime that I hope everyone around the world will see! However, please do not get sick when watching it!
