Castlevania: Holy Fires - Version 2.0.0: Casual Mode

Changes:

  • We've received some requests for an easier difficulty mode for Castlevania: Holy Fires. So, in this update we added a brand new game mode: Casual Mode!

    • In this game mode, the Night is a little bit nicer towards Christopher. In Casual Mode, if you lose all your lives and get a Game Over, you are no longer thrown back to the title screen. Instead you can continue from the start of the level you were on when you died. No more do-overs!

    • Secondly, when you get hit by an enemy in Casual Mode, they will no longer take your upgraded whip from you! This will now only happen when you die. Get some more uses out of that fully upgraded whip!

    • Note: GameJolt Trophies are still bound to Normal Mode, so no trophies are unlocked in Casual Mode.

  • Secondly, we removed some of the Ukobacks from Level 4. They were making things a little too difficult at that part of the game.

We added enemies from later Castlevania games to Holy Fires. Check out Ukoback and Skeleton Gunman from Symfony of the Night (among others). To make them fit in Holy Fires, we gave them a bit of a visual overhaul. (also check out our new page-banner)

HF Update! This week, we added some sub-weapons for Christopher! The Axe is great for hitting flying enemies or those who are higher up. The Holy Water can be thrown on the floor to create a flame ahead of you. Great for setting up traps!

Two Holy Fires posts in one week? You bet!

A few weeks ago we showed a first look at the boss' arena for level 3. Here it is in it's finished form!

Also, check out that grey demon in the sky. It's Gobanz (or Death Bat), the original boss of level 3!

This is a general #UnrealEngine tool, not specifically for the Mega Man project. It can copy the data from ANY Blueprint or C++ UPROPERTY variable, and copy it back to any compatible variable. Could lead to making Save States for Rollback Netcode.

For this years Global Game Jam, we've made a short horror game based on the theme Lost and Found!

In GOAT, your objectives are simple: 1. Make your way down the mountain. 2. Don't get lost. 3. Don't get found.
