I’m writing this News Post to keep you guys informed about the state of the game.
As stated in my previous post, I have been learning a coding language. Originally, I wanted to work in Java or JavaScript.
However, the syntax of C# is definitely more user-friendly than I had originally thought. So, it’s now going to be made in C# using Monogame.
I found a youtube tutorial series in 100 parts so far (as it is constantly being added to) for learning C#, and I am glad I found this person.
Following along, he makes things easily understood, and I am learning fast.
Aside: Concatenation.. who knew that meant adding two strings together as so:
Console.WriteLine(string1 + string2)
Anyways, yeah. Learning this is totally fun and I can’t wait to get into the coding aspect of the game for real!
When I have free time, I’ve been bouncing between the learning C# and working on sprites. I REALLY need to make a good-looking medieval sprite base, as the game takes place in medieval times in an alternate universe.
Now then… it is slow work, as I have no prior experience of pulling sprites right out of thin air. Or do I? because apparently I have a gift.
This was my first EVER sprite. As you can see, it’s more modern than I would have liked, but that does give rise to another project I would like to do sometime in the future.
I would like to complete Illumination before going on to any other projects, whatever they may be.
But for now, I hope this keeps all your curiosities about this title in check.
I do apologize that it is taking me longer than I would have liked.
More news: I will be on holiday in Ontario, Canada for 2 weeks from May 8th - May 26th. I visit Canada every year to spend time with my fiancee. So, during that time, I may not be working on the game or assests as much as usual. But, rest assured, when I return from a most desperately needed vacation, I will pick up the pace as much as possible.
Thanks for reading,
Jeyson OUT!
