CHAPTER 4 INSTALLMENT 1 (Progress Update)

Chapter 4 Installment 1 could be considered multiple installments in one, as the quality and scope has multiplied.

For the list of changes in scope, read the article below:


* The Castle Town segment could be considered at least 3 segments worth of content as one, with a massively expanded Castle Town that eclipses the actual Deltarune in size.

* This Installment is now 5 segments long as some segments simply became too big to be just one.

* Barely any plot points in-between segments for Chapter 4 are left up to the imagination compared to Chapter 3

* The quality is way higher compared to Chapter 3

* We've lost multiple team members (due to their personal reasons) which made progress rocky for a bit

How much progress has been done for each segment:

Opening Cinematic: Completely done coding-wise with placeholder assets, visuals are still being worked on but not a priority

Castle Town: About 60% done, absolutely massive in scale and there's still 4 main parts of it incomplete. Despite the fact we skip some parts it's still by far the hardest segment I've ever had to make as it feels like an entire Installment in a single segment

World of Faith: About 80% done, everything but the attacks and one scene is completed

Reverend Minister: About 10% done, mostly dialogue and minigames. Way bigger than any other segment I've made except for Castle Town

Hero's Journey: N/A, but easily the shortest segment of them all

There's also lots of work done outside of the segments too, like:

* Every single dialogue string is planned to be put in a JSON file for translators

* MEMORANDUM for Chapter 4 onwards is now translator-friendly, since the text isn't sprite-based anymore

* I'm now using Python scripts to my advantage to get certain things done faster

* You can now Change Name in Chapter Select

Getting to this point has been tough, but now I feel like we've finally climbed over the biggest hurdles and it'll only be easier from here. More progress soon!

We put up a new build for Lambdarune! (0.2.0)

This is a quick balancing fix for most of the game, with fixes for various softlocks. In the coming days, another update should happen to iron out some final details and fix up minor visual inconsistencies.

Update 1! Originally we planned to rush a bit to get something out before the release of the official chapters, but since that isn't possible anymore, we're consolidating the quality of the project instead. Slow but steady progress has been made!
