CLARIFICATION - Q&A [ +200 Followers Special ]


Hi there everyone! Here am I with some answers!

First of all I wanna thank you all again for staying tuned! It is amazing to see how this project became a “worth taking a look at” game! I never would have thought! And as of now, +240 follows, thank you very much guys! I really appreciate it!

I keep receiving a lot of very nice and encouraging comments from various people, most of them are eager to already play the game!
Here I am, with more and more people willing to see more of F.N.a.R! That’s making me feel really proud! And not even anyone complaining about anything. Until a few days ago…

I am also really happy to read comments about the negative aspects of the game too, which is obviously crucial for a game or project.

I heard things that I didn’t really hear before, but as more people discover my game, more opinions are getting unveiled. That’s totally normal. Also my goal is obviously not to please everybody! It’s simply not possible. But anyways I am replying to some of the most criticized things about F.N.a.R


Here we go:

1- That Jumpscare in the trailer simply sucks and it looks ridiculous!

The trailer is not mean to make you jump out of your chair, nor spoiling the atmosphere, so obviously the sound volume has been decreased. But I totally understand your point. The jumpscare itself is not scary at all.
Okay please consider taking a look at the original Five Nights at Freddy’s, and most of the 2D FNaF fan games (3D is a different story: you have much more possibilities). Are they scary? Are they creepy? Most of the time not. So what’s scary about them? It’s all about the atmosphere, the sound design, and the tension that builds up. Have you ever got scared by a FNaF jump scare because the design was scary? No, probably not. People only get scared because they fear it coming, and it suddenly pops up. It’s the same here in F.N.a.R.
So don’t worry! You’ll most likely get scared startled! And well I hope everything that happens starting from Night 3 will scare the heck out of you… :P

2- The models look bad.

One of the first thing I ever modeled in 3D in my life was a FNaF styled chair. Here it is:

The second thing was Roxy. After drawing Roxy’s first designs, I immediately decided to start modeling the character. I just rushed to Blender, grabbed a plane and started modeling. I even watched a Funtime Freddy speed modeling on YouTube to learn a maximum amount of editing tips, shortcuts and other tricks.
So Roxy took me 5 days, and then I eventually got better: it took less and less time to make the characters. There was still probably a LOT to improve, especially regarding the textures, but back then it was way enough for me! Over the past few months I’ve learned a lot of new stuff: texturing was one of the fields where I kept improving! I’ve been using Cycles Render, never tried Blender Render.
I guess it didn’t really bother that some parts of the characters meshes weren’t correctly unwrapped. But it was fine for me!
Then I started working on the different areas of the location, I stared to work in Clickteam, started to render… I didn’t really change the models.

If I’m doing a new FNaF game or something that has to do with 3D, with all the techniques I acquired, it would look way better, no doubts!

And beside the models not looking that professional, a lot of people seemed to be really amazed by them. They probably look better than a crappy recolor, am I right?

3- The positive aspects: This game is DOPE man!!

4- When will it come out?

I am not sure about the release day yet. Though I am planning to release on Christmas or by the end of January. But keep looking back! Stay tuned! Make sure you follow the game to get notified about any new updates and teasers!

5- Why do people hate Truddy so much? ;-;

Well, good question… I don’t know. Poor Truddy

6- What did you use to make the Trailer?

But here is a quick recap:

  • Blender - 3D Modeling

  • iMovie - Movie Editing

  • Motion - Fx

  • Logic Pro X - Music, sound design, audio mixing

7- Any voice acting?

Not a lot, but yeah some character will talk when they move, and one of them is already voiced by someone! :)
And of course there is the unforgettable phone guy. Wait. Is it a guy?

8- How is the game progressing overall?

I am currently still working on the main game, maybe by the end of this month I’ll probably be done with it! I’m also working hard on that little surprise on night 3… ;)
But all in all it’s working out perfectly fine!
