Hey everyone.
So the summer began, which everyone was waiting for so much (although I, for some reason, have a feeling that this year everyone more calmly accepted it 😅). I admit, at the beginning of the school year, I expected anything from this year, I thought that I should prepare the coffin for myself after exams, that I’d leave my school at the end of it, and so on, but suddenly the whole situation with education and with life too was changed. Training was switched to distance learning and all exams (except graduation) were canceled. As a result, what scared us all these years, namely exams, wasn’t scary. Even this distance learning wasn’t as bad as it might have seemed at the beginning. Yes, I had to sit by the computer for 12 hours a day, but for the first time in a long time I was able to go out in the quarters to be absolutely good (no, I went out before, but usually I had subjects that needed to be pulled up so that it was B) so everything went well for me.
But I delayed the introduction a little. Now I will get to the point: I’ll congratulate you with the beginning of summer and go over the news.
✨ So, I congratulate you all with the coming of summer! ☀
I hope that in these three months you’ll be able to sleep enough, do your favorite things, discover something or someone new, and complete some business and/or start new ones. Despite the fact that because of all this world quarantine it isn’t possible to have a lot of fun, I hope that it’ll be weakened over time, and if you can't go somewhere far away, at least you'll can go for a walk or hang out with someone or just go for a swim on the beach. Catch this time while it is and enjoy the little things!
although what I mean, most people spend time at the computer, so they have nothing to worry about...
In any case, have a good rest!
Well, I congratulated. Now I can tell you what’s going on behind the scenes of DT.
✨ First of all...
I started to read «Blood, sweat, and pixels». And gosh, this is an extremely interesting book! I haven’t been so interested in reading for a long time. Thanks to this book, I was able to reconsider my situation with the game and decided that a tighter schedule should be introduced: although we aren’t an official game-company and we can afford to do everything as much as we want, but if we wouldn’t limit ourselves to the deadlines, then our ideas will accumulate, we’ll not be able to fully realize them, and as a result, the game’s output will drag on for a very long time, but I have limited time. So that’s why I decided to do this: I’ll appoint myself and some other people from our team (so far there are only two of them, but I need to deal with this problem, because alone such a large project will have to be done indefinitely)
certain dates when take this or that job. If I calculated everything correctly, then this should help us speed up the development process. Over time, we’ll see how productive deadline is.
As a result, I can name the nearest deadline so far - June 27th. On this day, I’ll try to hand over the script and start or draw, or adjust the plot. I can’t say anything about the remaining dates, because so far there is no material to work on. In the meantime, read a book by Jason Schreier during the holidays - it will be interesting both for ordinary players and those who want to connect their lives with the game industry.
✨ The second thing...
We finally decided on the screen resolution of the game. We decided to take the format of 1280x720 pixels due to the ability to place more things on it and implement more ideas. Well, also in this size my favorite «Heartbound» is made :з But don’t worry, the classic screen format will also be back, but so far I can’t say in which form. Just hope you’ll like this idea ~
✨ In third place...
I redrew the hairstyle and animation of the protagonist's gait. Now it’s more realistic, smooth and beautiful (when I start the animation to check the correctness of the transitions, the movement of the hair and others, I always stick) ^ω^ The forward movement is ready, to the right in the process. The only thing I worry about is walking from the back, but I'll try to figure it out. I also changed the location of the labels in the loading screen, and now it looks cooler and you can check it here.
✨ Fourth...
I am gradually formulating plans for the summer. I want to try out new programs for myself, promote DT, read several books and, most importantly, start to sale my work. If I’m lucky, I’ll even start earning money somewhere using my skills (I don’t know where exactly yet, but I'll look)
.
Something like that. I’m glad that you and I have survived another academic year, and now we can relax. I wish you all a good summer, take care of yourself and see you in the next post! ✨
RESULTS OF THE MONTH:
Approved the screen resolution - 1280x720.
The starting place of the game, the train, is almost finished writing. We are going to proceed to the next location.
1.5/4 gait is ready, redone loading screen.
Deadlines entered (format test).
Screenwriter and artist is on positive, threw inspiration.
P.S. This month, the main developer has the main exam, on which much then depends. Therefore, let us all wish him good luck and successful admission to where he wants!✨✨
