CUSTOM NIGHT OVERVIEW

Happy Frickbear Monday! Today, I'll be highlighting the game's custom night menu! This is something that has been in the game since the demo, but there are quite a few changes and new features exclusive to the full game. Let's go over them one by one!

CHEATS

These are optional modifiers that can make the night easier for practice or for the sake of practicing or just testing out certain interactions. The cheats include:

  • ENABLE EXTRA CHARACTERS: Allows the seven secret characters to be selected, assuming you've unlocked them.

  • ENABLE SP CHARACTERS: Allows certain characters' AI levels to be cranked past 20 to SP. What this means will be explained further into this post!

  • INFINITE POWER: Power no longer drains.

  • UNLIMITED ITEMS: Items from Mendo's shop are free and in infinite supply.

  • FREEZE TEMPERATURE: The office temperature is locked at zero for the entire night.

  • JUMPSCARE IMMUNITY: Any animatronic that tries to jumpscare you will be blocked and reset instead.

  • CAM RADAR: The locations of all camera-based animatronics will be visible on the cam buttons.

NIGHT DURATION & GUARD SELECT

This allows you to set the duration of the night from anywhere between 1 and 6 minutes. Any night shorter than 6 minutes will also have some balance changes applied to account for their shorter lengths, such as increased power drain and reduced shop prices.

The guard selector, on the other hand, just lets you change what guard you'll be playing as during the night. Unlike the main campaign, the guard you choose is purely cosmetic and doesn't have any effect on the difficulty of the night, so feel free to just pick your favorite!

CHALLENGES

This is the big one! There are 20 different custom night challenges to pick from. About half of these are the straightforward presets you'd see in any other game like this, enabling certain characters based on some theme - however, the rest of the challenges are a bit more special! This is where those SP characters come in.

These challenges involve some sort of special gameplay gimmick not seen anywhere else in the game. This is achieved through the special SP characters - animatronics who have supercharged renditions of their typical mechanics to make the night much, much harder. Each of these SP characters is also the focus of a different custom night challenge. Here's what all of them do!

  • SP TOY FREDDY: Instead of needing to beat just one of his high scores, you now need to beat eight of them. This is the focus of the "Gaming Hard?" custom night challenge.

  • SP BALLOON BOY: He'll be in the office the entire night, meaning you cannot use your flashlight at all.

  • SP SHADOW FREDDY: Much like BB, he'll be in the office the entire night, meaning you have to survive the whole thing in the dark. Together, him and SP BB are the focus of the "Blind Mode" custom night challenge.

  • SP MUSIC MAN: All sound effects are muted. This is the focus of the "Deafening" custom night challenge.

  • SP MALHARE: You only get to flip up the monitor once for the entire night. This is the focus of the "Watchful Eye" custom night challenge."

  • SP LOLZHAX: Rather than summoning one character at the start of the night, he'll summon three randomly selected characters every hour. This is the focus of the "The LolzHax Shuffle" custom night challenge.T

Some of the unrevealed characters ALSO have SP variants...but you'll need to find out what those are yourself!

STICKERS?

image.png

By beating a custom night challenge, you'll earn a gold star sticker next to its name. However, if you go above and beyond and beat a custom night challenge without the deathcoin, you'll earn the special deathcoin sticker! If you go even further than that by beating a challenge without any powerups, you'll get the Lolbit sticker instead!

Don't worry about collecting all of these, though - while you do need to beat all 20 challenges if you intend to collect every trophy, you only need 10 deathcoin stickers and 5 Lolbit stickers to unlock their respective trophies. The rest of the stickers just grant you bragging rights!

(It should also be noted that we're not even sure if the last couple challenges are beatable without powerups. Every challenge IS entirely possible without the deathcoin, though!)

CONCLUSION

If you've already mastered the main campaign and are looking for an additional challenge, the custom night menu can definitely be worth a look! There's not any content locked behind it (unless you wanna count the three aforementioned trophies), so don't feel pressured to attempt these challenges if you don't want to...but they can definitely give you something to do once you've experienced everything else the game has to offer!
