Prosthetics Unveiled

As the remaining party helped Mr. Carpainter to his feet, he said, "Ah, thank you. Thank you. Please forgive me if you can. You see, I had been under some... evil influence by that statue you destroyed. Now the evil is gone, but I..."

Carpainter approached the window and gazed upon Happy Happy Village. "Oh my… I’ve brought down the whole town, haven’t I? Excuse me, I have to go and apologize to the townspeople." With that, he left the room.

The party was in a rough shape after the battle, so they left the church, which was now almost empty, to seek aid. It was almost a pleasant sight to see the roads of the town no longer barren, but littered with people, each one helping one another. They found a small hotel to take refuge in, and asked the front desk for a room.

The person at the front asked them, "Are you with the rough man who came in earlier? He seemed to be covering his injuries under his cloak, but when I asked if he needed help, he refused and just took a room."

Cyrus may have left the party just earlier, but if he was injured badly, they wanted to help. They booked rooms close to his, and visited Cyrus' immediately. A knock on the door, a solemn "come in," and the party gently opened the door.

They found Cyrus, sitting on a bed, his cloak removed to reveal his true form underneath. Both of his arms were made entirely of metal, and his knuckles were spiked. His right leg was metallic too, and half his chest. His left eye, which was usually concealed, was a luminescent red.

Everyone was shocked. Cyrus had been a cyborg this whole time, and they never even knew. Any questioning about his state only resulted in the answer, "War is cruel."

Before they could even settle down, Cyrus spoke up. "He didn't deserve your mercy-- Mr. Carpainter... But he didn't deserve my wrath, either. Thank you for stopping me... I have enough blood on my hands as is."

The party dispersed to their rooms and slept the night, not knowing what they might encounter the next day. Hopefully, when they return Paula to Twoson, the way back home would become more apparent.

So, yeah. Cyrus' ultimate secret had been revealed. You now know everything about the party of heroes you've been reading about. (Or, at least, as much as they know.)

And since it won't be mentioned, the magic item Cyrus got from his gift box was a device that enhances his mechanical limbs.
