The Skirmish mode is now complete and integrated with the primary release. Simply toggle it on in the menu at the start of the game.
The new changes to the skirmish mode are: the special edition is not printed and there is no case file screen available. To progress into the next chapter, the primary quest for the chapter has to be completed. Usually, this would be the deity that threatens the town but the system itself is a lot more versatile, due to everything being controlled through global events, tasks, quests and parades, which allows for almost limitless number of combinations.
Along this line, the next feature for me to implement is thus the one that will allow me or anyone else to include any additional hand written skirmish scenarios, and allow the player to select them from the game menu.
In addition to that, there are some minor additions to the game mechanics.
The reporters may now also be incapacitated until the end of chapter, such as arrested by the police, comatose, horrified, catatonic, depressed and many more. Some contacts, however, will allow you to bring the reporters back from their afflicted state, but that will also make that contact unavailable for a period of 24 hours.
Some contacts, such as doctors and nurses, can also get rid of the reporter’s wounds, injuries and more. You can only invoke that ability while the reporter is in the office. The contact that is used will then also be unavailable for one day.
Injuries and wounds may now be healed in the field, once per chapter for each reporter. To do so, use the [Equip] option and purchase the Risky Stimulans.
While this will allow the reporter to press on and even engage obstacles that they wouldn’t be able to do injured or wounded, it also comes with a random side effect, such as splitting headache or shaky hands, that will prevent the reporter from using certain equipment until the end of chapter.
The side effect has no effect on reporter’s personal items, as they may still be normally used regardless of it.
And… that’s all for tonight.
Have fun and cheers,
c
