It has been days I’m trying to motivate myself to resume game development on my free time. The ideas come and goes, some are good and some are bad, but I never know on which one to focus. And then, I received the GJ contest mail (unexpectedly since the last time I came here was a long time ago), and I thought it was a great occasion to get back on track. With 1 theme and 1 week, it’s a lot easier to focus on what’s important.
Anyway, the game I think of is based on the idea of protecting ourselves from what’s scares us by singing. My goal is to make it the more contemplative and relaxing I can. I’m not sure I can achieve my expectations in so little time, but I’ll try.
So, today I prototyped a bunch of eyes which stares at you, coded a little half of the gameplay and made a nice real-time synthetizer for the singing part. But my main concern is for the real-time part as flash introduce a lot of audio latency (~200ms). I hope that it will not totally ruin the experience.
If tomorrow evening I’m all done with the game mechanics, I think I could keep my schedule and make something playable in time. :)
