Usually when I write one of these blog posts I’m pretty tired, and I mention it. Right now I’m running of 5 hours of sleep maybe. I also had to go to school which was painfully boring. All day I’ve just been kind of droning around.
Onto development. Today I deleted my prefabs folder which shocked me briefly (Recycle bin rescued me). I decided to change the button clicking system to be more like traditional flight simulators (I made it so that you can lock the direction your looking) and it’s very useful, it actually makes controlling the ship possible without much keyboard use.I changed the skybox to one with a planet and changed the lighting to correspond. I probably did something else, I don’t know. I”m so out of it today.
During school today I came up with some ideas for what to do to make the game flow. I came up with a bunch of general ideas but the thing that I did which I think screwed up my development game today was that I tried to make a roadmap to follow, and that really doesn’t work for me. I tend to just try stuff out and mess with it till it works, when I try to plan ahead something goes terribly wrong. I could see how it’s useful for some, but I have to let these things take their course.
Last night I was stuck awake thinking about whether I should continue working with this after the contest and I think that I will, I really like developing with the space flight sim theme, and have a bunch of ideas for what could make it better. Another thing I was thinking about last night was whether I’d finish, and, at this point I don’t know. If my mood keeps decreasing then I’m not going to be able to produce something good I’m afraid.
Hopefully I manage to fall asleep tonight and get some real development done tomorrow.
