Hello everyone.
I have unfortunate news regarding the development of the game.
While development has been going well, the pace has slowed despite a planned release date and I made the decision to scrap the entire overworld and redo it for the following reasons:
I made an extremely complicated hitbox system for an engine that’s far too weak and a very large world meant to be explored. Because of the complicated system, the frame rate suffered major drops. On top of that, it was getting very complicated to work with.
I hired a sprite artist to do sprite work, and while it was working, I wasn’t sure if it was the best choice as I like being independent with my projects so I scrapped his work (was a hard decision but I feel like it was the best choice) and had my friend show me how to make good sprites. So 2D artwork is now back into my control again.
I will redo it and make the code cleaner but allow for more. This shouldn’t add too much time to the game’s development, but I wanted to let you all know it won’t make it to the April 7th release. And because of this, Trailer 2 and the release have been delayed, but I promise it will be worth the wait.
