Hey everybody. It's been like a month since the last update, and 4 since the last devlog, so I figured I'd bring everybody up to speed on stuff behind the scenes!
Let's get all the mushy stuff out of the way and thank y'all for 1,400 followers. I don't really care all that much for follower milestones, but it truely does motivate me to continue doing everything I can for this project. So, from the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate it, y'all!
General progress
With the introduction of some new gameplay mechanics, we've come up with a few new ways to spice up gameplay, while not being too overambitious.
While I can't get into the nitty-gritty of it, as not to spoil you guys of discovering these mechanics on your own, I hope that you guys look forward to discovering these on your playthroughs in a few months!
I spent a few hours a couple weeks ago writing out what was going to be a brief plot synopsis, but accidentally ended up being a 8 page synopsis of the events that occur in Old Home. My writers were terrified, to say the least. At least the plot of Old Home is 100% written. There's just a bit of story-related dialog that still needs to be written (~20%).
Also, I've been working on Jevilswap daily for a while now, and we are making consistent progress on it. Admittedly however, I'm not used to this at all.
Music
While I know that we've said "oh wow the ost is finally done" like twice now, we have actually added even more tracks to the OST due to advancements in the story that weren't present in previous updates (and no, I refuse to say that "tHe OsT iS fInAlLy DoNe" until we release the damn game LOL.)
I don't really want to explain what these two songs mean in terms of the plot, since I'd rather you find out for yourself when the game launches.
So what's the GitHub screenshot mean (programming side of progress)
Programming wise, the game is fully playable, outside of basically everything story-related being absent in-game.
This means you can:
Walk through the 40+ rooms of Old Home
Speak to NPCs
Fight monsters (yes, every enemy encounter has been balanced and completed)
Collect items
Play with brand new gameplay mechanics
...and even more. The main things absent from this build are the story-related boss fights and most of the cutscenes, but those are the last major things before the game is complete.
I have released multiple private playtests of the game, and we have squashed most of, if not all of the bugs we can find. I'm super happy about this, and am looking forward to focusing on the story side of things more.
(For reference I fixed 60+ bugs in the span of about 3 days.)
At the time of publishing, I am currently working on the attack designs and implementation of the boss fights in this area. Those are the bulk of the work, so I'm getting those out of the way so I can focus on cutscenes and what not afterwards.
Translators wanted!
While we're well into the games development, we do need more of one team role, and that is Japanese Translators.
The plan right now is to add the Japanese translation in an update to the game post-launch, as we'd rather not delay its release. I hope this doesn't alienate our audience, and we hope you understand.
We have two translators currently, and while they do their best, it would be preferred to get more on the team for a few main reasons, those being:
More translators means more people to interpret dialog, and make sure nothing is lost in translation.
Dialog is being written on the daily. It'd be best not to overwhelm two translators with all of it.
So if you are:
Fluent in both English and Japanese languages
Have a portfolio/examples of your work (or can demonstrate it in some way)
...feel free to contact me; we could use your help!

Conclusion
Now that we are in the home-stretch of the demos development, content shown publicly will most likely be scarce. Aside from the occasional concept art or screenshot, updates from now on will be very minor until the game is ready for release.
I hope that y'all will be looking forward to the games release.
