For the past few days, I decided to try Unity. It got me interested, and I even started thinking that Godot might be too weak for my project (to be honest, I was just stuck in my own crooked architecture and looking for excuses).
Unity is a good engine, but it's just not for me. Too many issues with DLL connections, opening multiple windows for testing, constant updates, Unity Hub, and other stuff that I absolutely hate - things I never have to deal with when working in Godot. Still, it was a good experience. Now I know how to write and connect my Standalone server to different engines and set it all up.
This experiment gave me a good kick in the ass. I completely rewrote both the server and client parts from scratch, and now it actually works clean and fast.
I’m continuing to work on this project as hard as I can.
What's new?
So in the screenshot you can see reworked logging in system, lobby and absolutely new matchmaking system. Now it's working for 2 players but, obviously in future it will be working for whole 10 players.
See ya
