was supposed to be making devlogs every week starting a month ago but i lowkey forgot and just kept working instead
i do have version control set up on my game though, so you can see what i've done through my commits. you'll see that at the bottom though since i still want to talk about some specific things
Art
portraits of all playable characters (which is 2) and bosses (which is 6) have been finished and put into the game. haven't done the expressions yet but they shouldn't take too long
here's a speedpaint of one of the bosses, mina:

gameplay sprites have been finished for all characters, enemies and projectiles. some more sprites might be added for more fodder enemies and projectiles later if needed

i'm thinking of making more of them like one for dialogue box, game menu box, etc.

Gameplay
added a single player mode. it has some different rules that warrant an explanation in its own post, but you can see a general explanation for it in the commits section at the bottom

Music And Sounds
been working and still working on music. there is planned to be 15 tracks in total and currently, 11 is complete. in my game terms, all music up to the full stage 5 is done (there are 7 stages in total), including the stage 6 theme (boss 6 theme is being worked on)
i would put one of the tracks here if i could, but i can't so instead it's at the top. that track is the stage 2 theme
What's Next
i plan on finishing the rest of the tracks by the 8th of august, then work on sound effects and implementing them. afterwards, complete the expressions of all portraits, draw up some cg and backgrounds for the stages, then begin working on the actual stages such as gameplay and narrative
also, i plan on completing this game before the beginning of my semester which is early september. so i'll do weekly devlogs up until then (like i should have done a month ago lol)
