Blacksmith SFX - Julio
This week I have been animating all the assets and particles of the blacksmith building, which is composed of cloths to defend against desert winds, a giant monster skull and oozing oil and heavy machinery. Although it took me longer than I expected, the result was worth it.
Particles are still a W.I.P.!
The Chevalier’s Swap Animation and Cleaning Code - Luigi
If during last devlog I was implementing swap animations for The Chevalier, this time I’ve been working on its mechanic and the effects they trigger.
Every character will have a unique Swap Skill that will them him apart from the rest of characters. In the case of The Chevalier, it will damage nearby enemies for a bit and it will also stun them for two seconds!
I’ve also been working on improving our system to add new characters to the game and making them playable in-game, replacing some hardcoded code we had since the initial prototype.
This will help us in the future, when we have to link the Town, which will act as a HUB, with the “dungeon” generation system we’ve already have created.
Boss mechanics & dungeons - Alberto
Dungeons are the core of our game. Although we already had an algorithm to create procedural dungeons, we still didn’t have a way to add an entrance and a final room. So I have been working on that, apart from simplifying some code from the algorithm.
I also started working on some mini-boss mechanics that we will probably use in the future. (the “boss” that I’m showing is not a final boss is just a scaled up version of a mushroom)
First steps into the village - Dani
Continuing last week’s work, where I had to create our old Blacksmith and everything she requires! This is the building where we will find her, and the part of the village she will be placed in - new tiles, props, etc - where we can also find vending machines selling refreshing Grog-Cola!
To get a better plan for the design of the Town, I have made many architectural pieces and decoration that go well together with each other to create new buildings and props quickly, here are a few.
Welcome to all the our new followers! We hope you enjoy today’s entry!
