Farming and crafting are two similair, essential new skills. Why are they essential? The answer is simple. With crafting and brewing you make all the supplies and gear you need to travel through the world. Brewing is of course used to create potions, whereas crafting is used for many different things. You can make armour plates from mined metals to get better protection from attacks and poison, but also rings to give you various bonusses.
I started with creating the brewing skill. This was simple. You put an ingrediënt into one slot, and it will start turning it into potions. You can then take the potions out of another slot. While there were still many potions to make, especially higher tiered versions of the ones already available, the system to create them is finished and all I need to do is add some new numbers. The crafting system was the next task. I needed to change and add some functions. The main change was to be able to craft 2 items into one, to allow for more complex crafting. What I thought to be a somewhat difficult and complicated goal turned out to be relatively simple. All it required was for the secondary ingrediënt to be in the inventory to be able to craft the item. Another small difference with brewing is that crafting requires you to stay in the workbench menu, whereas brewing doesn’t. To compensate for this extra hurdle items are crafted three times as fast as potions are brewed.
With the crafting and brewing systems in place, all I have to do is add items to the lists of craftable and brewable items to complete it.
