Devlog 2 - March 3, 2024 - Animatronic Data Repair's Story Is Officially Complete!

On a scale of 1/3, this article is a 3, meaning you should ABSOLUTELY read it or at least look through it!!

I just want to start by saying that the video you're seeing above is the "secret" cutscene from completing hard mode. There's only one person I'm aware of who actually completed hard mode, and this person beat the unnerfed version of it! So congratulations to @CheeZPooFZ for completing hard mode! Here's a link to his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kv_I2ZiWta4

On June 14th, 2023, I started re-writing Animatronic Data Repair's story. One thing I really hated about the old game was that there wasn't really a story, or a developed one at that. Like I said on the demo's release day, I just hoped that the player thought that everything that they were experiencing in the game were happening...just because!

And I hated that so much, I wanted to make a game with a story that resonated within the player after completion. A story that resonated within the player for years!

So almost 9 months ago, I started re-writing the game's story. I wanted it to delve into the dark lore behind Five Nights at Freddy's, and after taking a break from writing the game's story to develop the game's demo, a couple of days where the only thing that I did during my free time was non-stop writing, I finally completed the full game's story.

The full game's main story is 43 pages long. Like I've said multiple times before, I'm not 100% sure that this is how you're supposed to write stories for games, but the game's whole story is 43 pages long.

If you want to include ALL of the endings, the game's FULL COMPLETED story is 46 pages long.

Now don't look at the page number and think that it's just filler! The main reason why this Google Doc is so damn long is because 1: It's 1.5 spaced, and 2: I included the game's scripts inside, which I'll talk about more in the next devlog.

I'm really happy that I completed the games story because in the last devlog, I said that I made some storyboards that I couldn't wait to showcase, and now that the story's complete, I can now show you some of the storyboards I made!. Here are the very poorly drawn storyboards I made in Paint!

Introducing a brand new office!!!

That's all I'll show for now ;)

And before you talk shit about these absolute masterpieces, remember how the office in the demo came out.

So please have some faith in me!!!

Something that I've been really wanting to talk about is the full game's gameplay. I've had some of these gameplay ideas since 2022, which was before I started developing the game's demo!

Animatronic Data Repair's FULL GAME will consist of:

  • 10 WHOLE NIGHTS in the standard mode of the game (story mode)

  • 3 cinematic endings

  • Cinematic cutscenes

  • Voice acting! (Hopefully! More about this on the next devlog)

  • 360° scrolling office

  • 360° point-n-click gameplay

  • Post-shift tasks

  • + Many many more fun and horrifying things!

One thing I also wanted to talk about is the game's maturity, if you check out the game's GameJolt page, you might've noticed that the game's maturity has changed, mainly for the demo.

However, in the future, before the full game's release, the game's maturity will change to below:

  • Mature Content (18+)

  • Intense Fantasy Violence

  • Intense Realistic Violence

  • Blood and Gore (I'm very serious about this one)

  • Drug Reference

  • Strong Language (F-bombs and other foul language from time to time)

  • Crass Humor

Another thing that I wanted to talk about is my YouTube channel!

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9-RUHeEi9DJ1lfogWgZwLw

In the near future, I will be creating a short series for anticipation for the full game. It will be kind of detrimental to the game's story. I'll talk about this more on the next devlog, but to kind of tease you on what it is, it takes a lot of inspiration from a certain FNaF VHS creator, and I'm so excited to start working on it soon.

And one of the very last things I wanted to talk about is the hypothetical second demo that I mentioned in the last devlog.

After some thinking, I've decided that there will be no second demo to Animatronic Data Repair.

Instead, I'm going to send the full game to a couple of YouTubers who played my demo.

As for the full game's release date, I'm hoping to have the full game completely done, but not released yet, by 2025. So look forward to more information on that.

Now, to end this devlog off, you're probably asking yourself, "But Henry? What's the next step in development? Where do we go from here?"

Well, next, I'm going to start making demos of the office in Blender, to get a feel of what I want the office to look like in the full game, like I did a couple of years ago, but since I'm not a freshman in high school who had no time on his hands, it won't take years to complete one office.

I also plan on re-modeling the animatronics. I'll make final renders of the office after a couple of demos and I'll share them with you! I promise! Same thing with the animatronics!

You have no idea how pumped I am to get back to work on my game! It's been so fun working on the demo and I know that I'm gonna have a lot more fun working on the full version!

I really hope that you're looking forward to playing my game!

Thank you all so much for following and supporting my game! I love you! Bye bye now! ♡

This article isn't really that important, but hey! There's actual footage of the game now!

The show stage is done! Also, this was completely modeled by me and me alone!!! Yippy!!!

Note: This is just a cinematic shot, not an in-game shot.

Here's a comparison between the two versions.

Now goodnight, cause I've been rendering this for days now!

Today's my birthday!
