Devlog #2 - Self introduction and progress

Hello my name is Erik, and I am a member of Project Smile. I have been making games little over a year now. Before making games I was customizing them to a very small extent. In this project I am the UI designer and I will be balancing the game when we get that far.

What am I currently working on?
I am really new to Unreal Engine 4, have only done one project earlier and I did not do too well at it. So I am currently learning how to create simple levels and how to use the blueprint system.
Because we do not currently have any 3d assets the levels are built only using cubes. But we are focusing more on how the sense are lighted and what colors are supposed to represent what. As you will see in the images below.

What are the rest of the group doing?
The project leader is currently programing the AI, which will be the main focus point of the game. The rest of the group are working on the player and what function he/she needs to be able to have a fighting chance at beating the game.

My thoughts about how the project is coming along:
The project is coming along at a good pace and I think that in only a week or two we will be able to test the game. The group have some problems but when we sit down and work on the problem, we are able to get past it and move on. We are still very early in development of this game but I think by the end of things the game will turn out great.
This is the starting area of the level and the first thing you will see on it. With a very dark surrounding and red lights (is going to be torches when we get a mesh and add partial effects)

This is a bit further in on the level and right next to the end. You will come across a lot of rooms like this where you have multiple options. So that when you are trying to make your escape from the big bad AI you are able to try to escape.

Here is the very end of the level. In order to show the player that this path leads to safety. We decided to use much lighter colors. We have yet to decide on the specifics that will indicate that something will take you to the next level or is a safe place. But we are currently thinking about having a room that whenever you see it you will know that you are safe from all the horrors that this game has to offer. The room will be well lit with a lot of color unlike the rest of the world that seems more color less by compares.

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!

I was bored, so... ManutKat.

Hi everyone! I started to create some environment props for my new video game, here is a cozy house in the forest. I'm planning to switch from Unity to Unreal... Let's see what new challenges I have to face. Made in Blender and Substance Painter.

Why walk when you can jump?

Regular exercise is key for healthy wings.

Try it out!

If you have more of an acquired taste, the restaurants in Niravasi have you covered! Maybe skip the salad bar, though.

I mostly build 3D First Person Shooter game mechanics in Unity, and in this I'm just showing C4 mechanics I made for a little side project I am working on! :)

We're knee deep in multiple large features and "game feel". Quick peek behind the scenes in this weeks Dev Blog: https://bit.ly/2QmmaQM
