Devlog 2: Sprite Overhaul & Extra Feature

Not necessarily a complete overhaul but the original ground sprites I created for the levels have proven to be too difficult to work with. The rise and fall of terrain throughout the levels made it difficult to correctly match the gradient of the original ground. In the attached photo you can see on the original grass-dirt-stone layer was difficult to copy and paste throughout the level. It made it feel like I was creating the ground as one whole image instead of a repeating sprite.

Plus the realistic and almost dark style of the original just seemed to clash with the cartoon atmosphere of the world. So I created a much more simplistic ground sprite that I would work much better.
By replacing the original with something more practical it alleviated a lot of the stress filled nights of trying to get the grass-dirt-stone gradient just right. Think smarter not harder, I suppose!

On top of that I thought of a cool new feature that should’ve seemed obvious to be included. I’m going to try to keep it a secret for now but just know I am working very hard on implementing it into the game and I think it will have a really good pay off!
Thanks for reading and I hope you’re looking forward to a completed Bippy just as much as I am!

Runestones: from concept to in-game model🗿

Shadow The Hedgehog X pixel art

I have added rewards for quests so that villagers can give you something in return for your hard work helping them. 🥳

I want to know - what's your favourite quest reward?

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

Finished work on the emotions of a new character for the tank universe

A house I've built a while ago. :)

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

It's built with painted Ebonstone.

Why walk when you can jump?

Showing off player 2 😎

What do you think?

OK, this starts to be too tricky puzzle already :D
