Devlog 2021-03-03: Soundtrack talk

As of today, MFG38's Average Adventure 2 has been in development for about 7 months. The game is theoretically done as far as actual development is concerned - it has been for a while, in fact. Recent progress has primarily entailed composing and implementing the soundtrack.

I recently made a spreadsheet whereby I can track the progress of the soundtrack, and I'm happy to report that it's just under 1/3rd complete. The game will feature 27 tracks worth of music in total, of which 8 are currently done and in the game. In addition to composing the music for Fakorii City today, I made a start on the music track for the battle against the final boss, Ogr'dulth. The soundtrack will feature a variety of genres, including orchestral, chiptune and ambient. My general goal with the soundtrack is to not only craft a suitable accompaniment to the several areas you visit, but to also convey certain emotions when needed.

As with MFG38's Average Adventure REDUX and other games/mods of mine with original soundtracks, the soundtrack album will be released alongside the game. It will be available on Bandcamp for free. As for when the game will be released, there's still too much left to be done to give an accurate estimate - that said, I am aiming to have the game out during summer.

I may or may not be working on a poorly translated mod for MFG38's Average Adventure.

It may or may not be out sometime next week.

Another house i made long time ago.

So here's the first of the zodiac signs i will make for the next weeks.

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

One of the most critical update for Sunblaze demo. Now you are able to pet a cat! Finally!

2d lighting experiment

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
