Devlog 4/15/2025
#fnaf #fnaj

Hello there, and welcome to the first devlog of this era of Five Nights at Jaygi's.

The last time I did one of these on this page was in 2023, which is 2 years ago.
For anyone new, don't be fooled by the release date on the page. This page has been up for 4 years (5 if you want to count the deleted FNAJ 2020 page). And to that, you say to yourself, "Jaygi, what the hell have you been doing for five years?"
I'm going to explain that.

Development hell

For the past five years of working on FNAJ has gone nowhere. I was able to do art (except animations) just fine; I had all my ideas written down and tried to manage the project. One key thing to put all the pieces together was coding them. Back then, I didn't know how to code FNaF Fangames or just code in general.
I would always rely on friends who knew coding because begging for a coder in the streets isn't going to get me far.

I had Sonic4925 (the person who made the FNAS Reimagined games) during FNAJ 2020 before it got canned. He was also gonna code the 2021 version, but he just disappeared one day and hasn't come back.
Creepy (now known as Alibaba), who made FNaS 3 Reburrned, was also gonna code FNAJ 2021-2023, but he had too many projects to deal with and never had the time to work on FNAJ.

And then 2024 happened, and FNAJ Classic exists, and if you know the story, then I don't need to repeat it

But if you're clueless and don't know, then the short story is that FNAJ Classic was made to learn how to make an FNAF Fangame and nothing else.

After finishing FNAJ Classic, I started to come up with some ideas for FNAJ 2025, as I was planning to restart everything with nothing borrowed from FNAJ 2021-2023
This means I have wasted a bunch of assets at the cost of making a better game

Now, is all of the stuff going to be shown? Probably part of the gallery for the Extras.

Either way, it's April, and I have some progress done.

The way I'm working on this game is very different compared to Classic as I didn't take any breaks working on it

While I am taking breaks working on FNAJ, there's a little dose of burnout left from making Classic that remains whenever I'm working on FNAJ, and it will probably get worse over time.

I'm just one guy who is coding, making art, trying to make music for certain bits of the game, planning, directing. I fill in the roles for almost everything and have some of my friends do certain parts of the game. Also to consider the fact that I'm currently dealing with my senior year of high school is also a bit stressful.

Now that's out of the way, let's get into the real meat of this devlog

What's different compared to how it was 4-5 years ago?

Simple answer: I've improved

Ok, but for real, there are improvements in art quality from FNAJ 2021-2023

I've been trying to take inspiration from some photos I took in 2022 of me at a Chuck E Cheese and photos online of it while also taking inspiration from only FNaF 1 and maybe a few fangames that I've played (the number of fangames I've played is very little).

I don't aim for a creepy vibe or whatever. My goal is to make a fun FNaF Fangame that can be played by many.
Tho, if I wanted to, I could take advantage of the fact that the art style is all "cute" and such I could just throw a curveball if I wanted to, but I don't think that curveball would fit anywhere in my game.

The story from 2021-2023 has been given a fresh code of paint with a new story

(This is not for in-game text.)

This story is far better than what I was working on back then. It better introduce characters that I haven't written about until now, tho this is just a first draft of it and might get some refinements later down the road.

Who's coding the game?

Drum roll, please! *drum roll*

ME!

After coding FNAJ Classic, I have taken the time to just code the game myself

So far, there are 437 events.

The game is being made in Clickteam since that's the only coding engine I know of

I plan to work on Trappy's AI

I can't show gameplay because it's just a bunch of placeholders, but maybe one day I will show it (even if I showed it before)

Anything different from Classic or what came back

Anything visual from Classic, like the Cam reflect and cams becoming lighter over time, returns from Classic.

Artist StarryBune returns to do some pieces of art for the game.

The scrolling comes back.

The gameplay is a little different from Classic, but with different threats to deal with and ways to be dealt with.

And I think that's all I can say about that.

When can I expect this game to come out?

Dear god.

One thing from Classic's development is that I can't promise release dates for these types of projects.

My current goal is to aim for November 20th, 2025, as that's the 10th anniversary of the Jaygi Archive YouTube channel. This is a good way to celebrate my old channel, Jaygi the character, and FNAJ's 10-year legacy as a drawing idea. All of those turn 10 this year.

Please note that this game is BIGGER than what you've seen from what I've posted, so I'm unsure if November is possible. BUT the current goal is to work on the main content AND THEN the side content to give this game some meat to it.

This game is meant to celebrate 10 years of me on the internet and also the character, so I want to respect my and Jaygi's history and such.

I don't know what else to say, but be on the lookout for whatever comes next

Maybe you can share this game or Classic so that more people can get to enjoy and see me suffer through working on this game and more people get to know the characters and such.

But that's all I have to say. See you in the flipside.
