Heyo Gamejolters.
I decided I will come back and update you all on the progress so far of the demo. So, Here you go!
The battle system has been greatly polished and I would say is 90-99% feature complete. I dunno, I might polish it more later.
More rooms now exist along with a few NPCs added in, though, I've decided that I'm going to hold off on building bare bones for each room until I reach points the necessitate adding them for the story of the demo.
Puzzle 2 out of what I'm thinking will have 3 or 4 puzzles total is still not complete, but we are actively working on getting to it because first I need to create the skifree-like mini game that leads to the area which includes that puzzle.
Basic artwork for the demo area I'd say is somewhere between 40-50% complete. Honestly, I'd say that waiting for artwork is the number 1 thing causing this project to take so long to build.
The shop system as mentioned earlier is now pretty much done except for some polish and maybe a few bugs
So anyway, I should probably mention that shortly after last devlog we decided to essentially redo like 90% of all the existing artwork to fit a new resolution for the game. This, as you can imagine, set us back quite a lot. However, I think I've got a pretty great grip on the game and how it will look from now on.
SO HOW FAR COMPLETE IS THE DEMO? WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE!?
Well, here's a list:
Finish skifree-like game
Make second puzzle
Dress up a few areas with trees, rocks, bushes, and enemies and NPCs
Polish up the first puzzle to have better story telling tutorial mechanics
Polish up the introduction to getting a defensive item
Make the introduction to getting the first weapon
Add the convenience store and the 3rd puzzle
Add the halfway mini boss
Create Pinewood Village and add its story elements
Add enemies and stuff to Pinewood Village
Add final puzzle
Add tavern and all its inhabitants and quests
Add demo ending
Final polish
Extensive game testing
And that should be everything. As you can see, there is QUITE A LOT of things left to do. But you know, I'm just happy to have made it this far. Here's to Unsummited's continued development.
P.S. I added a new song to this page to listen to (created by CelerySoda once again!), and some screenshots. Beware, the screenshots may not reflect the final game's look! But I hope you like em anyway.
