Last week I left off with the level selection world transition being nearly complete.
Here is a video:
I thought I was done with all the fancy transitions but then, out of the bushes, a wild Anton appeared! In the previous version of the level select, after finding all collectibles on a level, the display box would turn gold to show that the level is fully complete. A “nothing left to see here” type thing. We opted out of this in the new version of the level select, or so we thought. After some deliberation we decided to revert our decision.
To do this, the gold box needed to be re-introduced. I will admit that at first I wasn’t happy. Seeing the result won me back over though. Making this happen wasn’t an easy task by any means as it conflicted with most of the existing transition code. This week went towards making the box transition from it’s normal graphic to the fancy golden one. Which involved a lot of code re-factoring and headaches.
Today I finally got it done though! Now Anton hasn’t actually seen it yet so things might change:
We intend to make the button that the player character is standing on golden however that obviously isn’t done yet.
That is about it for this week, not very eventful as the transition took so long to make. I’m now moving onto fixing up our tutorial stage boss, and then it will likely be a bit more level select, maybe some bug fixes, and maybe even some new enemy programming!
