Welcome back to this new devlog, not much has happened, so let's get to it.
Improved AI Part 2
TSEG has finished revamping the AIs, so here's the overall state of things.
All the main animatronics have received the improvements (Bonnie, Chica, Freddy, Foxy, Fredbear), along with more. As explained in the previous month's devlog, this gives us a lot more control over the difficulty and whatnot.
The Endos
The Endos have also been improved. They finally use proper models (The basic endo was just Bonnie with the suit invisible) and poses. I also fixed a small issue where they wouldn't change their pose.
The Endos also now have a forgiving threshold, meaning that if you look away for a very tiny amount of time, they will not move. We have control over this number and can change it however we want.
Dialogues Part 2
After a bit of looking around, I figured I wanted to use UE4's Native Subtitle system. However, if you've ever used UE4 and tried that system, you'd know it's very inconvenient due to the complete lack of control over the subtitles themselves.
Fortunately, we have found a plugin allowing us to gain control, and so we're now using it. So far i made a basic flexible dialogue system that allows us to trigger a series of dialogues with as many lines as we wish. I have yet to implement more features.
Story Mode Script
The script for Chapter 1 of Story Mode has been completed. Thanks to that, we'll be able to complete development of Chapter 1 quickly.
Thumbnail Art and Banner
You probably noticed, we changed the thumbnail and banner to something we believe looks much better, as well as giving Springbonnie more exposure. One reason behind that is....
Springbonnie AI
Around 2 months ago, I secretly made Springbonnie's animation kit. This month, TSEG has used the AI revamp as an opportunity to create Springbonnie's AI. And while it's in a very broken state at the moment, it's still there and can somewhat function.
As previously stated, Springbonnie was planned to be our most complex AI, and the challenge really is here. We are really looking forward to witness people's reactions when the game releases.
Release Date?
Just like last month, it's difficult to imagine a release in 2021.
Although, there's not much left in terms of important features which we have to add, and once that's done, things should really get better. Until then however, We got a lot work to do.
See y'all next month, and take care!
