You read that right! After over a year of early access on GameJolt and Itch.io, we're finally bringing Duels of Fortune to Steam as well!
This has been a long time coming, and something we're sure many of you have wanted, so we're very happy to announce it! The game being on Steam means lots of exciting things, like automatic updates (including automatically carrying over save data between updates!), Steam Input functionality to further increase controller compatibility, Remote Play Together as an alternative to Parsec, and above all, even more people getting to play the game!
The store page is live as we speak! While the plan is still to keep DoF free for the duration of Early Access, please wishlist the game to help get more eyes on it, and to know exactly when it releases!

That being said, you probably have some questions about the release on this new platform, so let's get those answered right now!
Q: When will the Steam Early Access version release?
A: As soon as possible. If all goes well, it'll be within the next week or two, but we still have a couple Steam-specific things to sort out before we're fully ready to launch on the platform.
Q: What will happen to the GameJolt and Itch.io versions?
A: While Duels of Fortune will continue to remain available on GameJolt and Itch, we intend to make Steam the primary platform from here on out. This means the GameJolt and Itch versions may receive updates less frequently, or will only receive major updates and important hotfixes while smaller bug-fixing patches will be skipped.
Q: Will my save data carry over to the Steam version?
A: Unless you transfer the save data manually, no. However, a handy guide for doing so can be found here!
(Note that for the Steam version, Duels of Fortune's files can be found in C: Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Duels of Fortune)
Q: Does this mean online play?
A: If only it were that easy! It does, however, open up another option for playing with friends in Steam's Remote Play Together feature, which should be at least a little more accessible for most people!
Q: Does this mean the hiatus is over?
A: Also no. Things have been going well for us, though! As of now, we're nearing completion on our small Godot learning project, Rolling Rampage, and we intend to release it before the end of the year (probably not too far off from DoF's Steam release!). After that, we'll begin work on the project we really wanted to make during this break, which we'll reveal more details about when we're ready! We are fully aware that development on said project could go on a bit longer than intended, knowing us. In the event of that, we plan to begin working on Duels of Fortune again, in tandem with the side-project, until the latter is completed and we can fully shift our focus back to DoF.
Q: 🍔
A: Sorry, that is not a question. That is a burger.
All that said, getting Duels of Fortune on Steam feels like a huge step for us, and we're super excited about it! We hope you look forward to it too, as well as our upcoming side-projects in the near future! Thanks for helping us get this far!
