I've been busy the passed few days. I haven't had a lot of time to get EMCN 2 done, but I have been brainstorming. I thought it'd be nice to show off another menu that's going to be in the game.
POPGOES!!
Probably one of, if not the most popular, sit and survive style FNaF fangames will OBVIOUSLY show up in EMCN 2. Its menu was probably the easiest to make as all of its assets were simple images. All I had to do was make hitboxes and make them go to the right place. I even have most of the ideas for the mechanics of the characters done. The only ones I'm missing have ideas for what I want but the actual mechanic is still unknown. The menu is going to be a mix of mechanics returning from the original game as well as brand new ideas. Also, the menu may look a bit low quality. That's because since so much is being packed into this one frame of the game, frame being stuff like the custom night itself or the custom night menu, I would need to optimize as much as possible or else the game won't properly load everything. As such, some large images will need to be a bit low quality such as basically all of the Popgoes menus.
That's not all that'll be coming out of the Popgoes menu. In Popgoes, there's a mechanic called "Panic." It's simple: stay in the cameras for too long, or have something go wrong, and your Panic rises. You look away from the cameras to make it go down. If it goes up too high, you'll see hallucinations of a character named Stone, which will block your vision of the cameras. If your Panic is maxed out, you die and lose. It's a very simple and interesting idea. So simple that it'll be featured as a core mechanic in EMCN 2.
The Panic bar will function differently as you can't look away from the menus in this game. It'll go up if certain characters aren't maintain and are ignored. And if it's too high? You lose. Currently, only three characters affect Panic, but that'll likely go up when I start thinking of more ideas. One of the characters is actually the one I shown off in the previous progress update! While you are dealing with the Mac Tonight Cards, the Panic will rise slowly. You need to get to 10 in a row for the Panic to go back down. So the only penalty for missing a card is having to do it all again and potentially make the Panic go too high. The time it takes for a new card to appear may be shortened to make it a bit nicer as I feel like it takes too long. That's about all for right now when it comes to Panic, but expect more soon!
In other news, the AI values are all set up! They can now influence stuff in the custom night! It uses the same kind of luck used in the original EMCN. If anything, I may tweak it but I felt like the original did pretty well so why fix it? That means the character's mechanic I mentioned in the last progress update now actually works with the AI value. Some mechanics might be made easier on lower values and become harder on higher values as opposed to being just more frequent but that's still up in the air.
As a bonus, here's a GIF of one of the characters residing in the POPGOES menu: Blake the Badger! His mechanic is roughly similar to his in the original game because it was pretty cool on its own and fits the menu pretty well!
That's all for today. Thanks for always listening and stay tuned for more EMCN 2 news in the future! :)
