Heyo, it’s Cattdude again with another rushed devlog of Dayshift Simulator. If you were wondering where I was for the past month I was busy dealing with some irl stuff that prevented me from working on the game. After that I was planning on posting a quick devlog, but I decided that releasing a half baked devlog after a whole month with nothing new to show didn’t sound groovy so I decided to delay it until I had some actual progress to show. That was around a few weeks ago, now I actually have something to show this time. This time I was able to make some prerendered screenshots of the demo I hope you like em. Disclaimer: These are a work in progress so it’s bound to change in the finished demo.
I also have some important news at the end of this devlog so be sure to stick around.
No seriously you’re scaring the customers.
Quack.
Rough screenshot of the overworld.
I plan to improve the battle sequences later.
Now onto some news:
After some thinking I think I realize what’s been slowing the game’s progress these past few months. It’s a combination of expecting to do too much and procrastination. To keep it brief, I was too focused on normal school work and the game’s art that I had little to no time to practice using RPG Maker which caused me to forget a few things on how to use it. On top of that before I stopped using RPG Maker I added a lot of plugins into the game that I also forgot how to use. Now I have to relearn both RPG Maker and the plugins which shouldn’t take too long but this actually made me realize something.
So now after that realization I decided that I’ll start from scratch, this time a bit more prepared and organized. While I am restarting that doesn’t mean a lot of progress was lost since I still have the game’s assets and I haven’t started on Day 1 yet. Right now it’s more about starting over with a clean state and organizing my stuff since it’s faster, and better and than trying to fix the mess. Plus this time I’ll keep some notes around so that way if I ever stop using RPG Maker I’ll have some notes to look back on. I’ll let you guys know if it works out, and that’s about all I got for now. I hope to see you guys in the next one. Hopefully it doesn’t take two months or so
-Cattdude definitely not procrastinating again
