Hello everyone, as you all know, Final Nights 4 hasn't received any updates in a very long time, we've received a ton of requests in various places such as the Jelatine Official Discord Server, Twitter, and others. I'm here to explain as much as possible, even if it's a very late explanation.
None of the Final Nights games will receive any further updates, and there will be no further games released. The games were made on old versions of Unreal Engine 4, which means that if we were to update the engine to the latest version, it would cause more issues than it could fix. A very common problem in Final Nights 4: Fates Entwined, was that Fredbear was not following the alarms, and the main reason behind that was that you needed to be incredibly specific at the moment of you using the alarm, otherwise it wouldn't work. Other issues were such ones as various game mechanics not responding properly due to the framerate not being stable, and that's because we were using ticks as the system instead of timelines.
What I mean to say is, if we were to update Final Nights 4 to fix these issues, it wouldn't be an easy task, firstly, updating the game to the latest UE4 version would already break a lot of things, and if we include having to redo pretty much most of the systems to work on a timeline instead of ticks, the amount of time required to do all of that would basically be equivalent of remaking the entire game, and as all you know, we've been trying to make our own original games in these silent years, due to us having work and other matters we all need to attend to, we simply do not have the time or budget to remake the game or try to fix the issues currently existing.
The same situation applies to the older Final Nights games, such as Sins of The Father, Nightmares Awaken, or the original Final Nights. Simply put, we do not have the time to work on free fangames anymore, we want to aim higher, and make and release a game which is something truly unique, something which works with a lot less issues than the Final Nights games had, while we still love the Final Nights series, and it helped us a lot to develop in various aspects such as quality of our games, but we truly want to make something special. Whether we manage to do that successfully or not, we will see in the future. We got an amazing community now, which is still with us after over 2 years of not releasing any new game, which we're really grateful for, and we cannot thank you enough.
We would love to remake the Final Nights series, and give everyone a experience which would show what we're capable of nowadays, but as it is now, we simply do not have the budget or time anymore, we still hope everyone can enjoy the series as it is right now, it could be a lot better, but we're happy with what we released, and the experience it gave us.
To conclude this announcement, we're also announcing the end of support for the Final Nights games on the Jelatine Discord Server, as we've been getting pretty much the same questions over and over over the past 2 years, mainly with the issues the games had. The Final Nights #help channel will be archived, and will be read only by the end of June. In a separate announcement on June 30, I'll make a compilation of solutions to various questions and issues for the entire series, which will hopefully help a lot more without the need for joining a server.
Our entire team wants to thank the entire Final Nights Community for the support over the years, as well as volunteers which helped with various things in the series. We will live on, and we will make something even better than the Final Nights series ever was, it might be something familar, something completely new, we will not say anything, but we're really happy with what we've done on our current project, which you can all can call LAZARUS for now. The name is a codename for the community, and it might be relevant to what the game is about, or it might not. We truly cannot say anything right now.
We've recently posted a new teaser for the game, which you can check out on the Official Jelatine Twitter Account, if you're interested in our next project(s), feel free to follow the account! The link to it is https://twitter.com/_Jelatine
We also invite everyone to join our Official Jelatine Discord Server, we've got a great talented community, and we would love everyone to join it. The link to it is https://discord.gg/M3DP53QzG2
Thank you for reading this post, after all, who would we be building something for if not for our community?
