[EN] Thirst for Life !!
It's been a long time since I started developing a novel. Well, I think it's worth informing people what success I have achieved with the support of my friend Okno.
Thirst for Life is a visual novel in the genres: horror, adventure, with elements of a detective story. The main character is a girl Lisa, who goes for a walk after a quarrel with her parents. She visits an abandoned meat processing plant, where she finds a strange, old animatronic Phoenix. He inadvertently gives Lisa more information than she needs, which is why the curious girl set herself the task of finding out: why the beautiful entertainment center for children "Zvezda" was closed, what happened to the animatronics working there, why the meat processing plant was also closed almost immediately after its opening, and, most importantly, who the Phoenix is.
The novel is scheduled to be released in spring / summer 2025, so what will the game be able to offer?
1. A variety of endings.
The endings are calculated from 25 to 40. At least 15 ends of the game are already ready (or a line with these endings is being created). There will be many ways to end the story, but the most important will be the three endings: 1) "The worst", 2) "The best", 3) "True". Only two of the 40 options will be completely canonical.
2. The ability to deviate from the plot
Many people are used to the fact that in visual novels there is no way to distract from what is happening and explore the territory, or to do something useless for the development of progress. In LiveJournal, you will have the opportunity to chat with animatronics, try out their rides, explore the area a little and even argue with the owner of the "Zvezda". By the way, about the attractions…
3. Mini games
There will be games in the novel, both obvious in the fact that this is an interactive part, and not so much. There will be four of them in total, each main animatronic in the "Zvezda" will have one mini-game. At the moment, one is already ready: it is located on Polly's territory. If you complete all 50 levels in this boring game, there will be a chance that the animatronic will let you into his private room. Perhaps your patience will save your life in the future.
4. Voice acting of the characters
Dialogues will not be voiced, as there are too many of them (it is quite possible that the time to read the novel will reach 10 hours), but their lines will be played after each bad (where Lisa dies) ending.
5. Animations
The game will feature small animations that will help bring the characters to life. It is also planned (and at the moment I am doing it) two large animations on the territory of Tamiko tiger animatronic. They will show her fights with hyenas and a lion. Also, maybe the animation will be presented in a branch with an animatronic dog.
6. Contrast: real life in an abandoned meat processing plant and beautiful drug-induced glitches in a forgotten "Zvezda".
A balance will be maintained between something calm, sometimes even sweet and scary. This does not guarantee that in Zvezda, where the atmosphere will be more friendly, you will not find shocking content, but there will be a lot of it. Unfortunately, you will not be able to disable the display of horror stories in the game, so you will have to play at your own risk, given that trigger topics will be affected, blood and other liquids will be present, descriptions of vile scenes and the like. But still, you will have the opportunity to take your mind off the constant emotional pressure. Of course, before the game starts, there will be a warning listing the impressive content that the player may encounter.
7. A large number of artworks
There will be many images of characters, backgrounds, and individual details. You don't have to fantasize and come up with the type of terrain or character yourself, because each character will be presented in full glory.
8. Music and sound effects
I plan to make a large number of accompanying melodies and sounds. Some sounds will be taken from free sources, some I will make myself. I expect that I will also write all the melodies myself, some from scratch, some using samples. You will be able to fully immerse yourself in the world of Thirst for Life.
9. Large game menu
In the menu, you can save at ANY time of the game, upload your save, view many different collections of open characters, music, voices ... The player will have the opportunity to read some facts about each character of the novel, get acquainted with the authors. Achievements will be added, and after completing the full course, you (if I can implement it) will have the opportunity to play DLC. Of course, you will not just be presented with all the menu options on a platter, you will have to open collections by completing the game.
10. Beautiful design
There will be a lot of animations in the novel, as mentioned earlier. I will also use plugins from 7Dots, both paid and free. This is due to the fact that my knowledge in programming is not enough for the ideas that I would like to implement, but I have the opportunity to use the help from Russian developers. Links to them will also be left.
11. Multiple languages
At least 2 languages are planned: Russian and English. Russian is the original language, but Ren'pai itself will translate into English, so it is possible that there may be errors in the translation.
And so, the novel continues its development. Every day I try to make at least a little progress in order to meet the deadlines. Posts on the page rarely come out, because, to be honest, I'm too lazy to post something often.
