The final chapter of the Jolly series. You have been tasked to work in a facility to guard a rebranded version of the beloved animatronics of Jolly Entertainment. However, you aren’t just here for the paycheck. You have a greater purpose here…stay the course.
One goal, four ways to end it.
Development
Announcement + Jolly Goodtime's reveal
JOLLY 4 began development in March 2021 and was to be made on Clickteam, the same engine used to make all the previous Jolly games. However the game page for Jolly 4 was mildly leaked in the same month, with the page getting deleted due to this.
JOLLY 4, as well as the sneak peak to its titular character, Jolly Goodtime, was revealed during the Fangames at Freddy's Summer Showcase on August 14th, 2021. IvanG uploaded a GameJolt post on the same day as the event, which gave fans access to the Jolly 4 game page.
Other Goodtimes' reveals
A month later on September 15th, 2021, the JOLLY 4 development team set up an ARG by posting incomprehensible numbers and letters among each of their Gamejolt profiles, which in time was confirmed to be parts of an Imgur link, which would take theorists to a teaser picture of George Goodtime. The picture was posted to GameJolt by IvanG after it was found, which also announced the addition of Mechlus to the Jolly 4 team.
Two weeks later, a poster was uploaded on GameJolt, revealing Tweetie Goodtime, Maxie Goodtime and the hands of a puppet-like character (later revealed to be Tal Goodtime). The hands of the Goodtimes were also updated, giving them joints and more articulation. Other things teased amongst them were a soundtrack list, a canon schedule, gameplay teaser and a hallway teaser featuring George Goodtime.
On February 8th, 2022, after nearly fives months of silence, JOLLY 4 reached 10,000 followers on Gamejolt, and because of this, the rest of the Goodtimes were fully revealed outside of the poster from September 15th, 2021, also revealing the full design of Tal Goodtime.
TikTok Teaser
A teaser was uploaded on TikTok and later on YouTube by IvanG teasing gameplay for Jolly 4 (which would later get taken down after the game was moved back to Clickteam on June 11th)
On June 11th, 2022, due to some controversy regarding Mechlus and Ultranite, they were removed from the team after readjustments, and some assets from Jolly 4 were unfortunately leaked. The game would still continue development as normal without them and would be moved back to Clickteam due to many people being concerned that they can't run the game or have enough storage space to download it when it would be made in Unreal Engine 4, due to its large size. Ultranite stepped down as co-director of the game, and Weshek took his place as the second director of JOLLY 4.
Office Section Reveal
On January 31st, 2023, Jolly 4 reached 20,000 followers, and because of this, IvanG revealed that the office section of the game (as well as a small portion of the free roam) has nearly been finalized, with two GIFs showcasing the free roam, two GIFs of the cameras including one of George Goodtime crawling in the ventilation system, and three GIFs of the office, including a moment where the player defends against Tweetie Goodtime, and another showcasing George Goodtime's jumpscare. There is a hidden word in the post in the form of seemingly random bold letters throughout the post, with the word in question being "decayed".
Hiatus
On January 21st, 2025, IvanG would officially announce that the original version of game would be cancelled after nearly four years of development due to extreme mismanagement from Weshek, specifically by overworking and underpaying the developer team (most of whom were minors), lying about it outside of private developer circles, as well as having them sign contracts to not tell anyone about it, all of which was done without the acknowledgement of Ivan.
A demo build of the game would eventually be released around the same time, showing off what the game would've been like. As of now the game is on indefinite hiatus, that is until Ivan decides to come back to it some day.
As of January 21, 2025, the game was confirmed to still be in VERY EARLY DEVELOPMENT.
The game was confirmed to have begun development on March of 2021, so that meant the game had been in development for less than four years prior to cancellation, making it have the longest development time out of every Jolly game.
So far, while the game had been rather steady in development speed, the game presumably sat at about 25% completion since IvanG stated that the office section of the game, which had been nearly finalized, was about a quarter of the entirety of Jolly 4.
The game's page was leaked on March 20th, 2021.
The game's page was also hidden, but not deleted at the same date.
According to Malrat_, the game was supposed to be a surprise, but got ruined due to the alleged leak. However, according to Weshek, Jolly 4 will not be cancelled for something as petty as a leak.
The page came back after Jolly 4 was officially announced on August 2021, under a different description.
Jolly 4 was going to be the first Jolly game to use another engine (Unreal Engine 4), not counting Jollibee: As Above, So Below from the Jollibee's timeline.
This was later changed back to Clickteam Fusion 2.5+ due to accessibility issues from fans that they wouldn’t be able to run the game in low-end computers which resulted in the free-roam feature being from WASD to point and click.
Despite the game’s change in engine, the game will apparently stay the exact same on every aspect (besides free roam gameplay).
Weshek confirmed that the point and click free-roam will be as similar as “At Dead of Night”.
The game was later revealed to have switched to Unity.
The game takes place 7 years after the broken down ending in the first Jolly game, making it take place in around 2023. This was later confirmed by Weshek to be the case.
The Jolly 4 facility acts as both a manufacturing facility and headquarters for Jolly Entertainment, and the Goodtimes cost 1 million each to make (in universe).
Various phobias would have been represented in this game.
There were an estimated 3 trailers planned for the game.
There are 8 total floors in the Jolly 4 facility., and every floor will have a completely different concept.
There will NOT be an android port for this game. This is due to the large size the game is.
There were 3 unrevealed characters yet to be seen.
According to Weshek, obtaining one ending with minimal deaths would've taken an estimated 2 hours.
The game would've had four different endings, with the final ending (also regarded by Weshek as the biggest ending) only being able to be experienced after the player has completed max mode (X/20) in Custom Night.
The game would've had at least 27 songs in its soundtrack, according to Weshek. So far, the only songs revealed are called "Sleep Paralysis", "New Nightmare, Same Old Perspective", "Nightmares and Dreamscapes", "In Dreams", and "Jolly".
Jolly 4’s script is 165 pages long.
To compare with Jolly 3's script, it is 19 pages long, making it a 146 page difference.
The animatronics would've had voice lines. However, according to Weshek, they would not be included in gameplay or game over lines.
It was confirmed by Weshek in 2022, that Jolly 4 would be the biggest, scariest and hardest game out of all the Jolly games.
Another confirmation from Weshek was that there would be a "Dream"-related gameplay segment in Jolly 4.
The game was confirmed to have at least two revisions before the current script was utilized.
The first script was scrapped because it was so gruesome that Weshek got sick and felt that it would be considered "too disgusting" for the majority of fans to finish.
This script included a scene of the player being trapped with a dying co-worker in a small room and having to pull out and eat the eyes of the co-worker in order to survive.
The second script tried implementing the Pinagsama as a character, but it didn't work and made no sense, so Weshek scrapped it and started over.
The original version of Jolly 4 is is the second game to be cancelled, with the first being Jollibee: As Above, So Below.
