this is going to be the start of a new series where I go ver various pokemon fan games and rom hacks to look at any fake pokemon or forms hidden within. today's topic of discussion is pokemon snakewood, a really old pokemon ruby romhack that has a legacy for it's wired story and clever premise. I'll be splitting this into four parts, here we'll be talking about all the fakemon you can actually use in the game, next time we'll go over all of the new evolutions introduced in the game as well as gen 4 and 5 pokemon that were put into the game, finally, in the last part, we'll go over all of the unobtainable fakemon and zombie pokemon found in the game. without gurther ado let's take a look at the list of fakemon
glute, bute, and nute
glute is a bug/normal type pokemon that is most notable for it's wired method of obtainment. buy the sparkly pnoy item from fortree city and take it to the pet master in fort draco. after leaving it with him for awhile you can either get a blitzle or learn that your pony died and this was growing out of it.
glute evolves into bute at level 56 and glute evolves into nute at level 70
the only other thing of note is this pokemon's terrible stats all around with it's highest stat being it's base 62HP and to add insult to injury these don't even get any abilities
roclobster
this legendary rock/dragon type can be found in the dive spot right next to dewford town, under the water there will be a rock smask rock, use rocksmash and this pokemon will attack. rocklobster is used by many notible trainers, including the champion and the demon senex. this pokemon has high stats all around with it's highest being it's base 145 attack, the only stat it falters in is it's base 50 speed as well as it's mediocre base 93 special defense. otherwaise every stat is over one hundred. it can either have the marvel scale or shed skin abilities
the madios.
madios are a group of pokemon that, with one exception, can be found in the madio cave, all of them are part ghost type
gluemadio
this poison/ghost type pokemon can have either liquid ooze or air lock as it's ability, stat wise it's pretty underwhelming with it's highest stat being it's base 100 attack
earthmadio
this ground/ghost type pokemon can have either lightening rod or rock head for it's ability. however good luck using either of those abiilities when it's attack is base 70 and it's special attack is base 20. it's defense and HP are it's 2 hisgest stats, both being 80
bonemadio
this disease/ghost type pokemon can have either levitate or speed boost for it's ability. this pokemon is most well known for being the only disease pokemon you'll likley be able to use (there are others but they're either really late in the game or are difficult to find) thse disease type is nothing special however, as it is effectively nothing, disease has no weakneses, no resistences, and no immunities, and there are no disease type moves in the game. therefore this pokemon is effectively mono ghost. it's highest stat is it's base 95 special defense
crazymadio
this ghost/fighting type pokemon can have either shadow tag or guts as it's ability. compared to the other madios this one is actually pretty usable with a speed stat of 110 and an attack of 85. it's not stellar by any means but it's certainly useful
seamadio
this ghost/water type pokemon can either have run away or arena trap as it's ability. arguibly the least viable of the madios with it's highest stat being it's base 85 special defense
burstmadio and blastmadio
this ghost /fire type madio is noatable for being the only madio that can evolve, when given a fire stone burstmadio wil evolve into blastmadio. these pokemon both share magma armor as a possible ability but if a busrtmadio with flash fire evoloves the blastmadio it turns into will have drought as it's ability. this s probably the best madio to use in the game (with one exception) due to it's good typing, amazing ability, and good stats all around with it's highest being it's base 105 special attack
treemadio
this grass/ghost type pokemon can have either chlorophyll or effect spore as it's ability. this pokemon is noatable for being the best support pokemon in the game due to it's effect spore ability, supportive moveset and base 255 HP combined with base 75 in both defensive stats
areomadio
this flying/ghost type pokemon can have the keen eye or early bird abilities. this pokemon is more of a late game sweeper, having mediocre stats all around except for it's base 90 attack and base 220 speed
normadio
this ghost/normal pokemon can have either hustle or clear body as it's ability. this pokemon is quite confused, stat wise with it's two standout stats being it's base 200 HP and 100 speed. all of it's other stats are pretty mediocre
kingmadio
arguibly the best pokemon in the whole game. kingmadio is a ghost/dark type with the wonder guard ability....in a game with no fairy types. this pokemon is immune to direct damage. it's stats are quite polarizing, as all of it's stats are 1 with the exception of it's base 255 speed. it is one of te fastest pokemon in the game and those 1 defense don't matter if the user is immune to direct damage. it is mostly used for support but it's effectively a free switch in on everything and can sit there tanking hits while you heal your other pokemon. it can also learn toxic which can be used to cripple opposing pokemon. of course such a godlike pokemon is going to eb hard to obtain as this pokemon only appears on the infamous mirage island....so good fucking luck getting your hands on one. you will have to fight 2 in the entire game, a level one kingmadio is owned by the dewford gym leader, and the champion has a level 73 kingmadio as well. both of which pack a higher HP stat than 1 so they won't go down in one struggle turn.
cinderico and radio orange
cinderico is a fire type pokemon that can have either run away or flame body as it's abilities. it can be found as a static encounter after going through the secret paths of the madio cave. when given a leaf stone this bird will evolve into the fruit shaped raido orange, a fire dark type with pressure or intimidate as it's possible abilities. this pokemon has a very varied stat spread, with it's most notible stat being it's base 150 special attack stat
chocwork
this steel/dark type pokemon can have pressure or intimidate as it's ability, it looks very similar to radio orange, but other than their appearence and abilities these pokemon share no connection. it's mroe balanced, stat wise with it's 115 defense and attack being it's highest stats
mysteryegg, secretegg, hyperegg
mysteryegg hatches from the egg that you are given at the start of the game, it is normal/bug type and this entire evolutionary line has the shell armor ability. mysteryegg evolves into secretegg at level 30,also losing it's bug typing to become mono normal and then into hyperegg at 43. hyperegg is very good defensively with a base 255 HP and base 100 in both defensive stats. however that is not the most notible thing about it. hyperegg can evolve once more. if given a fire stone it will evolve into entei, a water stone will net you a suicune, a thunderstone will get you a raikou, a leaf stone will get you a celibi, and a moon stone will get you an enhanced unknown. enhanced unknown still can only learn hidden power (plus any moves it learned while it was an egg) with much higher stats than a normal unknown
X32763
this steel/electric "pokemon" has levitate as it's ability. this pokemon is a robot that was developed by the students at the film institute in fortree city, on top of having levitate as it's ability this pokemon has very good stats all around with hit's highest being it's base 120 attack and lowest being it's base 60 special defense. you will have to go up against thie pokemon in the story
hombone and hombeast
hombone is a rock/ground type pokemon can have the hyper cutter or intimidate abilities. at level 40 it will evolve into hombeast, which boasts impressive phyisical stats, namely its base 140 defense, however it's special stats are quite lacking. this is the most common fakemon in the game as it is used by many different trainers and can be found in just about every cave in the game
kenchira and kenchuko
kenchura is a normal/flring type pokemon that can rarely be encountered at MT pyre, at level 48 it will evolve into kenchuko, swapping out it's normal typingfor the fighting type. this is one of the best pokemon in the game with a skull shattering 160 attack and mind boggling 165 speed, on top of that it can alo get speed boost or guts as it's abilities to boost either one of those stats at your leisure
psypig
this neat little fire/psychic type can be found in the temple on fort draco, it can have either flash fire or hustle as it's abilities. this pokemon is a solid choice for your team as it boasts a quite high 120 special attack and a respectible 100 defense. making it a great pokemon to switch into on fighting types
furi x
this mono water type legendary has the water absorb ability. sporting a hefty base 80 in both defensive stats and a jawbraking 200 attack (even though this does not help with stab) this pokemon can be found in the ice cave duirng the post game after you obtain strength
furi z
this mono fire type legendary has flash fire for it's ability and can be found on the SS congrejo in the postgame after obtaining strength, this pokemon boasts a s whopping 1 in both attacking stats, but makes up for it with a base 190 HP and special defense as well as a base 197 defense
furi q
this mono grass type legendary has the chlorophyl ability and can be found on route 115 in the postgame after obtaining strength. it is the most balanced of the three furis statwise having 90 and higher in all stats, with it's highest being it's base 120 attack
luca zamon
this dragon/ice type legendary has guts for it's ability. this pokemon can be found on the top of MT doom which can be acsessed by the lilycove museum on the top floor, you will need a pokemon with the move explosion to break the crate blocking the path. this pokemon is oriented twoards offense with a base 112 attack, special attack, HP and speed with a base 80 in it's defensive stats
tea barqan
this dragon/rock type pokemon is the counterpart to luca zamon, it can be found in the temple at fort draco on the top floor after luca zamon is defeated or captured. this pokemon get's marvel scale as it's ability and it's offensive and defensive stats are the inverse of luca zamon's having 80 in special attack and and attack and 112 in both defense stats with the speed and HP being the same
turmur
this disease type pokemon hails from another dimension and has the levitate ability. this pokemon is notible for being the only mono disease type in the game, meaning it is effectively typeless. what it lacks in resistences and stab moves it makes up for in raw base stats. with a BST higher than mewtwo at 685, all of it's stats are well above 100 with the acception being it's base 20 speed. however it's defenses and offenses make up for it's slow pace. the method of getting this pokemon is super long but in case you want it
get a Mush Mask from some guy in the Rustboro center, then trade it to a scientist on Route 118 for Cologne. trade the Cologne to a thirsty guy in the Trendy Sayings house in Dewford for a Spark Token. go to the pet shop in Fortree to trade that for a Thunder Cub. then leave it at the Endless Plains in Fort Draco where it'll become a Shinx. it'll be holding a Cat's Eye. head to the Lilycove Sewers to find a girl who likes cats so that could be traded for the Pachi Sword (a green onion). take that to the Chikuwa Vendor (Don Patch) at Mt. Chimney for a Hajike Bird. then take that Hajike Bird to a hiker in the upper part of Route 134 for a Rydrake Wing. finally, head to the Rainy Cave (Scorched Slab) on Route 120. you'll eventually come across the Meatfather, Don Carne. take this wing to him and then a lvl 60 Turmur will appear from another realm
senex
the final boss of the game, after defeating him in the main story you can fight him proper in the postgame on gym island, this time he is fighting you himself instead of using his team of legendaries. in this fight he is level 90 and you can catch him. he is a fighting/dark type, has the trace ability and has a BST higher than turmur at 690, unlike turmur he doesn't have one stat dragging down the average with all of his stats being 95 and up, the highest of which being his 140 attack and HP
shaderu
this ghost/normal type pokemon can only have the levitate ability. this pokemon has the highest BST in the game with a total of 700, it's highest stat is it's base 160 attack, however no stat is below 100. the method of finding this pokemon is unclear but it revolves around an item called the broken heart, several are scattered throughout the region, some sources say you need ten and other say you need fifty, whatever the case, once you find enough hearts go to the berry master on route 123 and he'll give you a spatial pass, go to the museum in slateport and talk to one of the cylanders on the second floor
faceleech
this poison/disease type pokemon is the ace pokemon of gleis, one of the villains in the game. this pokemon is poison/disease type and can only be obtained by breeding a turmur with a ditto, this pokemon get's the speed boost ability and bolsters some very unusual stats. all of it's stats are 1 except for it's base 255 speed and 175 attack, making this pokemon the epitome of a glass cannon
and that is all for the obtainable fakemon of pokemon snakewood. in the next part we will be looking at all the evolutions and forms included in this rom hack, if there are any other pokemon fan games or rom hacks that you want me to check out let me know in the comments below
