Undertale 3D - DEMO

FAQ

  • Are you making the full game?

No. In fact, I’m not even making the full demo right now. I’m only making a little short preview of what the demo would be like in terms of graphics, controls and combat system, among other things. It ends right after the first encounter with Flowey.

Edit 4/28/16: That has been done already, and now I’m working on the Ruins section. However, I’m also remaking the first thing; I’m just not pleased with the results.

  • When are you going to release it?

To be honest, I have no idea. Whenever I’m sure that I’ll be able to make it, something new shows up. Sometimes I just wasn’t capable of figuring out how to make something in-game, and other few times I had problems that have to do with my life and not with game development at all.
So, again, I have no idea.

Edit 4/28/16: Welp, I’ve already gone though all the major issues and stuff, so from now on it’s all about working hard, repeating some things over and over again, and just not giving up. If everything goes well, you should have something by the end of this year.

  • How often do you work on this?

Ehh… It’s not a constant thing. I really wanna work on it everyday, but I’m completely useless under hot temperature environments. Hell, I don’t even turn my computer on to play a game when it’s hot. And… You guessed it: it’s summer here.
I’m working as much as I can when the temperatures come down to a more reasonable number, but that’s not very often (except for that one week that I made lots of progress).

Edit: well, I’m happy because it’s not summer anymore, so that’s a thing… Anyway, I’m trying to get a job or something, so no promises about constant work or anything like that.

  • So… Are you even gonna release it?

This first thing, yeah. I’ve already made a lot of progress and it would be stupid if I didn’t finish it. If I don’t, then it means I died at a car crash or something. Now, the whole demo… It all depends on how’s my life going to continue. If I get a full time job, it’ll be really hard for me to constantly work on it without stressing myself out, until nobody gives a care about Undertale anymore and I realize I’m halfway though a project that no one ever will care about. So… That’s that.

Edit 4/28/16: That’s already released and the Ruins section is still a “maybe”.

  • How will the combat system work?

Well, I’m trying to stay as loyal to the original Undertale as possible, so I’m using the same system. However, an animation will be shown at the upper half of the screen according to what you’ve just done (from attacking and dodging, to eating and wiggling your hips, all will have its respective animation).
It’s still a work in progress though, but it’ll be shown as soon as it’s finished.

Edit 4/28/16: You can see it for youself (…except if you get this glitch that flips your top view upside down… in which case you didn’t see much… Idk, go watch a gameplay or something, I’ll try to fix it by the next update)

  • Will I have to pay for it?

No. It’s gonna be completely free.

  • Will it be available for Mac/linux?

In Unity (the program I’m using to make the game), creating a port for Mac or Linux is really simple. That being said, I’m gonna release the game for PC and Mac. If someone wanted a Linux port I’ll make it once it’s requested.

Edit 4/28/16: No one gave a damn about Linux

  • Is it gonna be good?

Probably not. It’s my first game ever. I’m not good at programming, and I’m only decent at making 3d models.

Edit 4/28/16: Told ya.

Well.. I think that’s pretty much it. Write down your questions on the comment section and if it’s a Frequently Asked Question that I forgot I’ll add it here.

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
