Issues launching the game

• If you have an error window “PSE requires MSVC 2008.”, you should download Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package (x86) here:

• If you have an error window “DirectX Window initialization error”, or in case the game window is empty, you should check if your GPU supports DirectX 9, check if your graphical drivers are correctly installed and download DirectX 9.0c runtime here:

Issues with game version check:
In case the game console outputs “Request error(Code: X), (…)” and a warning window (likely the way you are here now), you should:

• Check your internet connection (if you can see this page now, you shouldn’t worry - your internet is ok :D)

• Check that no antivirus or firewall is blocking access to the internet for CDoD

• Disable “Work offline” mode in Internet Explorer (see pic, you should have this option the same as here)

  

  Also, error codes in the game console match with IE error codes, so you can search “Internet Explorer error code X” and you likely will get some info about this error

• Click a retry button in a warning window

Performance issues

• If you have low framerate on weak graphics card, try lowering the effects quality in the settings

• If you encounter framerate drops on explosions or when you see a lot of blood, try disabling particles in the settings

• Lowering map and models quality doesn’t improve performance a lot, but reduces the memory usage
