Hi everyone!
Happy to see you in this newest devlog for Farmwand. In the past month we have been working really hard on the player customization and the magic system for the game. There is so much progress we want to show you, let's start!
😎Decide how you look!✨
In Farmwand, you can adjust tons of features of your character to your liking, such as the height, the body shape, the skin color, the outfits etc.
We are trying to offer as many options as we can for each feature so if you want a non-human looking color for your skin, hair or eyes, or a fantasy ear shape, you can get it! Later we will also add some skin patterns in case you want any tattoos or birth marks.
Some of our followers have asked if they could look like an ogre, and technically...you can :D
We also added several sets of mouths & eyebrows, each with their corresponding sets of facial expressions that the character can make during the game.
And for those who love to wear accessories, here is a small showcase of a few different hats with some neat physics.
People have endless ways to express themselves in the real world and we want to reflect that in Farmwand too, so none of the outfits or decorative items are gender locked. You are free to make all kinds of combinations in the style you like.
And don't worry, if you ever want a change of outfit or hairstyle, after you have customizes your character at the beginning of the game you can still have a makeover at the tailor or the barber shop in the game, or you could even make new clothes by yourself using your tailor table.
🪄 Cast some spells !🔥
Developing spells and the whole magic system for Farmwand has taken a while, and it is still on its early stages. The main reason behind this is that spells will be, as we envision them in the game, a core mechanic with TONS of different applications.
From farming and puzzle solving to combat and much more, we want to ensure that when you use spells in the game you feel like a true witch / wizard, that there are lots of possibilities for the spells to interact with the environment as well as many ways to combine their effects for useful or unexpected results.
Here are some tests of the levitation and the wind push spell and their interactions.
The flaming spell is also one of many useful tools that will be at your disposal. Just be careful at what you may set on fire!
