Merry Christmas and happy holidays! It's a new season and with it comes a brand new devlog, and you're going to love what this one has in store. So, without further ado, let's dive right in!
New Team Members!
Recently, I put out a post asking for team members, (which is still open btw!) hoping to assemble a team to speed up FAUXTALE's progress, and the response was overwhelming. Almost a dozen people applied, but in the end I selected three talented individuals to join the team:
@FedeP - A digital and sprite artist
@Idiot_Sponge_Studio - An artist and musician
@UTMuseix - A musician and programmer
Honorable mention to @cost3r , who didn't join the team from applications but is still an important member.
I would highly recommend giving all of these people a follow, they deserve it!
Music
Throughout the past few weeks, one song has taken up the majority of my time: Dance With Death. I teased the song in a prior devlog but haven't shown much progress until now, when (after many iterations) the song is finished! This is definitely my favorite song I've created for FAUXTALE so far, and I would love if you gave it a listen!

(Thanks to @thehairdudelmao for inspiration and help with a certain melody, and @FedeP for the epic thumbnail art!)
Art/Sprites
With the addition of our new team members, lots of new artwork has been done for the game, including:
A redesign for Faux:
A new tileset for the Caverns:
And some new NPC designs!
Coding
Let's address the elephant in the room now: the actual game, and more specifically, the Prologue.
About a month ago, FAUXTALE's first demo released to mainly positive reviews, but some people were still left dissatisfied. So, throughout the past month, I've been refining the game, taking your feedback into account. Don't believe me? See for yourself:
Faux's new sprite ingame.
A completely reworked movement system, featuring a faster walk speed and acceleration when sprinting!
And, of course, the infamous wall dance!
However, you don't just have to see it to believe it. On January 1st, to ring in the new year, a new patch will be released for the Prologue, which you will be able to download and play from the FAUXTALE gamepage.
I hope you're looking forward to it!
Conclusion
2024 has been a fantastic year for FAUXTALE, with development beginning, progressing, a demo releasing, team members joining, and more! I can't wait to see what 2025 will bring.
