Feature Updates, Gamescom and (Tentative) Release Plans

Hello All,

We’re back from Gamescom, where we had an excellent and productive time! There was hands-on gameplay, with thanks to our friends at Northern Ireland Screen for supplying our booth and screen.

Jennifer and Oscar caught the eye of many passers by, with great feedback on our art style and gameplay.

Development Update

I wanted to share a few specifics of how how the game has developed since the Kickstarter demo:

  • Alongside our walking environments, we have a new type of scene layout - the one-on-one. These conversational scenes will play out in dramatic moments throughout the game, and bring new perspective to some characters.

  • You can now use the mouse wheel to scroll through dialogue choices

  • We’ve incorporated frame-by-frame traditional hand-drawn animation style into our cutscenes (we’ll show a bit of that next update)

  • In our current demo, which a select few people got to try at Gamescom, you can now control Oscar and use him to solve puzzles.

  • Oscar Wilde himself has been completely redesigned to better reflect the playwright!

Release Plans

Production is going well, and we’re currently around:

100% Environment design
85% Art Complete
50% Story and Puzzles finalised and programmed
20% Dialogue complete (most of the game currently features horrible design dialogue that will be completely replaced once we know everything is working and Maura has chance to come in for a rewrite.)
Our schedule is subject to change, but ideally we would like to finish production by the end of the year, and release early next year. Possibly around February time.

Rewards

We’ve sent out messages to Kickstarter backers who pledged at the Be-In-The-game tier, asking for images to use as reference for their in-game character. We’ll be sending out messages soon to the Custom Avatar tier, so keep an eye on your inboxes.

Talk to us

We’re now on INSTAGRAM, posting lots of arty filtered photos almost-daily!

As usual, we’re hanging out on Twitter, Facebook Page, and YouTube Channel!

Out of boredom and curiosity, I coded Sailor Jupiter's Argentine Backbreaker.

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
