When it came out in 1999, The Blair Witch Project caused a sensation. Part horror, part documentary, it won the Youth Award for best foreign film at the Cannes Film Festival. And it hit the box office. Now, his story will be relived in a reboot.
THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE REBOOT
Behind the reboot of The Blair Witch Project is the master of horror Jason Blum, signed by Lionsgate. His production company, Blumhouse, is known for producing (extraordinary) low-budget horror films. Just think of Paranormal Activity which, made with 15 thousand dollars, grossed 200 million. In recent times, Blum penned the hits of M3GAN and Five Nights at Freddy's. And Blumhouse films have reached a record earnings of 6 billion dollars. It goes without saying that the name of him behind the reboot is a bit of a guarantee. The announcement of a "new" The Blair Witch Project was made at CinemaCon, the film fair currently underway in Las Vegas. And it marks the second collaboration between Blumhouse and Lionsgate, who have already worked side by side on Imaginary, a horror film whose protagonist is a sinister-looking teddy bear.
What will the reboot of The Blair Witch Project be about? The plot has not been revealed. However, Lionsgate President Adam Fogelson called it “a new version of Blair Witch, introducing a horror classic to new generations.”
Blum will collaborate with producer Roy Lee, already signed to the 2016 reboot
