STATUS:
This is how the game is right now;
There is a lose condition (death).
You can get hurt by traps and enemies. Some enemies have a battle splash (not finished)
Some basic graphics are around.
…But the game is in a bad state. I don’t think I did nearly enough work on it.
And I slept. like, 12 hours each day. I also had to go to work for at least 7 hours. So half the time of the contest was just sleeping and working :(
Then I went gym, did shopping, travelling. Another few hours.
A few hours spacing out, listening to music.
etc.,
I have no one to blame but myself, really.
IS IT BAD, DOC?
Unfortunately,. I doubt I will have time to create, flesh, polish and finish this game.
Still, this has been a good learning experience, and next time I will try to manage my time and stick to a plan/outline.
WHAT NOW?
The next few hours until the jam ends will be spent thinking how to re-organise whatever content I have into a playable feature, of some kind, if possible.
SAVE ME
Quite a lot of stuff is in there, and I could hash out a simplified game, but I doubt it would be worth my time or that of others. I am considering tacking on some scene-elements and making a linear, 10-minute-or-so “experience”
FUTURE
I would love to come back to this some day and do it properly. Probably more effort than it is worth though.
I would probably fill out the battle scene (splash) and incorporate some dialogue, choices and menus for talking to demons.
I would also finish creating distinct areas/zones and having some kind of upgrade system or power-ups/items.
It definitely needs text, description, speech etc., for the world and NPC building.
I wanted to include random or procedural generation to make gameplay fresh on subsequent plays and to avoid spoiling the game for viewers.
Thanks for reading, support, and if you have entered the Jam, good luck!
