Five Nights at Nutty's: Rebooted - Final Devlog Update (Including new Twitter account!)


Hey, welcome back. I believe we're at a point in development where we can call it quits on the long devlog updates, and transition to more frequent progress developments. So here's the final devlog I'm going to make for FNAN:R on this page.


First of all I want to stress, since I imagine people are somewhat doubting the game by comparing it to FNAN 1, this fangame has the title Rebooted for a reason. Whatever expectations you have for this game, believe me, we're gonna fucking surpass them. The only thing this game really shares with FNAN 1 is the characters. Otherwise, this is basically a new game. New gameplay, new story, new characters...this is nothing close to a remake. This is gonna be something else entirely. Buckle up.

So what has actually progressed since the last update? Beginning on programming? Brand new models? Well, uhh...no, if we're being honest, it was mostly just more planning. Mostly in the gameplay and lore department. But, we've come up with some very fun ideas and have been tying a lot of things together. MrNobody has recently made a document describing most aspects of the game, so we're probably gonna be using that to keep track of things from here on. We've effectively figured out the theme we want to go with for this fangame, which is "cheap, budgeted, hand-crafted", which is what we're hoping will shine through with the characters, location and gameplay. We still haven't fully figured out how we want gameplay to go, but we do have ideas we can tie together to hopefully provide a fairly unique experience. We certainly have the expertise to pull it off, I mean have you seen MrNobody's FNAC 4 Candy model?! It's like a 1:1 recreation of the actual model, it's insane! Is it a bit concerning we're 3 months in and still have no programming work done? Sure, I suppose, but at the end of the day this is a free FNAF fangame. I think it's okay for us to take our time here.

Oh yeah, speaking of MrNobody, he got his new GPU! So now he can render things in Blender much, much faster, which should hopefully help a lot with development of the game. How much faster? Well it seems to be between 4-8x faster. And keep in mind, it was already pretty fast. So, y'know. Nyoom.


OK, so I wanna take a moment to talk about marketing plans. I said in the announcement post that the plan was for this to be a fairly open project, giving frequent updates on how this and that is going. However back then, FNAN:R was planned to be a lot more faithful to FNAN 1 than it is now. Like I said, it's effectively a brand new game. So we're most likely not going to be as open as we initially planned. It'll probably be on the level of "We began modelling this one character" and "Found a really bad bug. We're keeping it in lol". And we're certainly not doing a Phiscord channel. Sorry, Phil lad. This also means there's no plans for teasers. There may be a couple, but I'd assume if we do them we're gonna try to do something unique. Not sure what that'd entail, but my point is image teasers are boring. Absolutely gonna be a trailer though, wouldn't be a well marketed game without one. So, how are we going to give our updates on the game? Well...

Oh, also wanna say, FNAN:R as a name probably won't be final. I dunno, it doesn't really gel well with me, I kinda wanna drop the "Nutty's" moniker, give it something a bit easier to take seriously. We don't know what else to call it for now but we're hoping we'll figure something out.

Before I close this devlog, I just wanted to give a massive thank you to everyone currently on the FNAN:R team, including MrNobody, Doctor Raven, TigeraRainbowra, Jenny, Dekkleir, Marp, LegalMeme and Electric. I still can't say I understand why you're so dang passionate for this game, but I really appreciate it regardless. None of this would be possible without your help, and I think we're gonna make something pretty special here. You're all cool bananas.

alright, game's finally done. itll be up tomorrow. and ill probably have some words to say about how long it took for this game to release after i revealed it too.

ever wanted to play popgoes in the engine that gave us sonic forces? well unfortunately youre gonna have to wait a bit longer for that, but hopefully in the meantime playing it in the engine that gave us undertale should suffice
