Dear Shipmates,
Despite being a really busy development period - with Android updates cranking out fast and challenging acquisitions of new art for mobile ships - I've found the time to go back to the basics and work a bit on the bottom-line of the simulator, adding new features and improving subsystems that were last touched years ago.
The beta testing community has become lively again and it's mostly thanks to the efforts of its members that my attention is shifting back to the bottom-line.
I hope you'll enjoy this new update, which some preview users have described as "now the game does not end anymore when the ship is wrecked".
Here is the list of changes in the update:
Redesigned ocean floor physics: a customizable layer of soft silt cushions impacts and allows for wrecks to slowly burrow under sand
Thanks to Bandit for their help with the redesign!
Fire now emits thick smoke!
Turned off by default on lower-end devices, as it incurs a substantial performance hit
Added more surprise features to make for cinematic wrecks!
Added Anti-Gravity Field tool - use it to float ships in the air or to raise wrecks from the bottom of the sea!
Doubled world width
Improved bulkiness of tsunami's and interactive waves
And added a new setting to customize it at will
Added new materials: Strong Cloth, Tense Strong Rope, and Black Smoke Emitter
Improved resolution of ship previews
ShipBuilder:
Re-designed texture import workflow, with clearer options for fitting the texture to the ship
Undo actions survive going back and forth to and from game
Fixed the last few crashes known to humanity
10% performance optimization in light diffusion implementation
Added 12 new ships
Let me know in the comments how you find the new ocean floor physics!
Gabe
P.S.: These changes will make it to Android in the next few weeks. Check Google Play often for that release!
P.P.S.: There are more exciting surprises coming up, expect a new update relatively soon ;-)
