This week I was working on the Flowey fight. There is nothing much to show, so instead I’m going to talk about him.
So, if you played the original game, you must know, that Flowey is missing a soul, so he’s not capable of love, compassion, empathy, etc. This caused his behaviour in Undertale. When you do something you shouldn’t do, then usually you feel bad (your conscience). Flowey, don’t have this, so killing everyone doesn’t have any effect on him.
But, he doesn’t want to die. Before Frisk, that wasn’t a problem for him, thanks to his determination. But now…
I’m planning Flowey’s character around his fear of death, and his (somewhat twisted) logic. He concludes two things:
While you are here, he can die. He doesn’t have enough determination, to battle yours.
Chara won’t show him mercy. He doesn’t know why, and it upsets him (it would even hurt him, but once again, he doesn’t have such feelings)
So, even if he is not comfortable with that, he will help you, time to time, to stop Chara. And of course there is his own goal behind all this.
Next week I’m going to have some rest, somewhere nice and quiet, so I won’t post anything.
Stay determined!
