For those currently experiencing issues with progress not saving...
Try right clicking the .exe, clicking Properties, then Compatibility, then click the checkbox for Compatibility mode and set the mode to Windows 95.
I know this is a bit of a strange solution, and this isn't guaranteed to work for everyone, but this method managed to solve the save data issue for a user named 'Lixunis' on the Freddit Discord server.
I'll continue to look into a proper fix for this issue sometime in the future, but for now this could be worth a shot to try.
If anyone experiencing issues with save data not working could provide their computer's hardware specs, that would be greatly appreciated!
