Frontier Combat: Beginnings

Frontier Combat: Beginnings is out today!

Frontier Combat: Beginnings is a fantasy JRPG with an unique battle system: build combo chains from mini attacks turn-based, defend your opponent combos in real-time! Also you can recruit ANY foe you encounter through side quests, battle your friends through LAN multiplayer mode and MUCH more!

I started this project literally 5 years ago.

After countless late nights and rewrites, it's finally here.

It features a 1-hour single player adventure. Short, intense, and packed with action. You don't want to miss it.

Also, implementing LAN multiplayer was absolute hell... but it works seamlessly now, and honestly? I love how it turned out.

Some fun technical facts about Frontier Combat: Beginnings:

  • ~34,000 lines of code

  • ~1,250 files

  • All code, music, art, handcrafted by me.

So that's it. Welcome to Frontier Combat: Beginnings! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed building it.

PD: MacOS build is coming shortly!

Just as Pecaminosa's musicians #improvise this rendition of #LittleSunflower 🌻, so do we improvise with this post you're reading. 😂

What's coming out of your own improvs? 🤔

"Our work is never over" they said.

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

A house I've built a while ago. :)

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

It's built with painted Ebonstone.

Why walk when you can jump?
